Timothy Nishimoto and China Forbes of Pink Martini sing "Kikuchiyo To Moshimasu" which is from their album "Hang On Little Tomato". Another Japanese song, "Taya Tan", appears on the more recent release "Hey Eugene!"

Here's their version of "Taya Tan":

When Pink Martini played in Tokyo earlier this year, they invited Saori Yuki, who made the song a hit in the sixties, to join them. Here's a quick, not very good quality, clip of them together:

This is Saori Yuki's version, which shows how close the Americans stayed to the original.

Pink Martini recently released an album called "Joy to the World" and Saori Yuki appears with them on versions of "White Christmas", singing in Japanese. More interesting than the song itself is the marketing. Virtually all the articles which mention her, refer to Saori Yuki as "the Barbara Streisand of Japan". God knows who came up with that ridiculous comparison.
