'The Flowers of War' --- more Nanking

Postby Taro Toporific » Sun Dec 18, 2011 2:25 pm

Check out this new Chinese trailer for the upcoming film "The Flowers of War" about the Nanking massacre in 1937 and an American (?) who helps a group of Chinese women.

Well Christian Bale is a British actor, but he can speak with an American accent. When he speaks with an American accent you would be convinced he's American. Unlike other British actors, when they try to speak with an American accent, always end up sounding Irish:p.......or something in between:confused:

It will be interesting to see the reaction to this movie in Japan (if it is allowed, and if it gets a wide release). I can imagine more than a few protesters (a la "The Cove" which only made it to a few limited venues).

With this being China's biggest budget movie yet, and starring a bonafide Hollywood "A lister", as well as a Japanese actor (Shigeo Kobayashi) in a lead role, it might just have an impact here in the land of the rising sun :nihonjin:.

I think Hugh Laurie has one of the most convincing American accents coming from an English actor.

In the meantime, Christian Bale's fame hasn't helped him in other ventures throughout China...

It's the guy that managed to make Batman a supporting character totally crushed into oblivion by the interpretation of the joker by Heath Ledger in 'the dark knight'.

You have to see that movie...

Never The Joker have been so awesome...

In fact if he could be included in Tim Burton's 89 Batman against Mickael Keaton in place of Jack Nicholson that would be a total schmorgasborg...

Slightly on topic but isn't there some sort of Japanese WWII movie being released now?
