in the neighborhood of the house where i was born, there was one hafu boy whose mother is probably irish or somewhere about there.
the couple of the combination of j-man and western woman is pretty rare in my childhood so they attracted attentions so much.
that half guy used to walk with his head down. i went home after a long time and came across the half guy.
he got to be over 190cm height  but he walked with his head down as before(i guess hes moderately a hikikomori)........
hafu ppl feel to be alienated so much in this country?

edit: oops i should have posted it in randam nihonjin video.........

the word jap itself is not racist. just an abbreviation of japanese. i agree. but his act is apparently racist.
if you cut the context in which the words were used, all the words being regarded as derogatory are not racist.
for example, the word gaijin itself is not racist. its just short version of gaikokujin as you know. but it would be racist depending on the context.

the comment boxes are full of silly bitches who even dont understand such an easy thing.

Jap may have started out as a neutral abbreviation but it's now definitely a racist term in the US and Canada. It doesn't seem to carry the same weight in the UK, NZ, and Australia though. However, I agree that context is everything and if you replaced "Jap" with "Jew" it'd be a lot tougher for people to claim he wasn't being racist.

If the worse thing he said was "Oi Jap! Walk on!" to someone he thought was looking at his cards....seems more like being a paranoid ass than "OMG RACIST!!" As SJ noted, "JAP" doesn't seem to carry the same racist implications in the UK, AUS, NZ.

Yes, but ass backwards. People from the UK, AUS and NZ are degenerate, unapologetic racist fuckwits so it isn't thought of as mattering, because they are Japs to them. Being too stupid to know how stupid one is doesn't make one not stupid. Obviously there are lots of perfectly fine people from any one of those festering pseudo developed shitholes, and plenty of them happen to also be unapologetic racist fuckwits, but just because a retard can explain why he licks the bus window doesn't mean it's normal.

the word used as a general term for mongoloid ppl is chink or gook, not jap in uk, right?
my guess is that he thought "why the fuk my team got this jap guy(Okazaki), besides in my postion!!" and unconsciously uttered the word jap.

I've ready in some articles that it started out that way and Wikipedia would seem to agree. I don't think that really matters though. African isn't a derogatory term but if you said, "Oi, African! Walk on!" to a guy with dark skin there's no way you could claim you weren't being racist.

Takechama,
Judging by his accent and diction he was not blessed with either breeding or much upbringing, and lots of older people throughout the English Speaking World use Jap or Japanese as the default generic; that is certainly true where I grew up. Also, do keep in mind that the average footballer makes the average Japanese baseball player or even Sumo wrestler look like a well spoken genius (I am assuming those 2 are the best known for the general stupidity of a certain type of Japanese pro athlete).

SJ,
Despite being a fan of WikiPee in general that particular Wiki article looks like apologetic rubbish. I was almost chanting Fee Fi Fo Fum as I read it. The instances they cite are plainly a racist use at a time when it simply didn't matter if it was, which isn't the same as it not being so. Again, blithe plebian cretinism is not a justification of a given argument.

That's not where I originally read it but I couldn't remember where I did and so I offered that up. I don't necessarily buy it either. I'll accept shorthand on paperwork by immigration officials or something like that was just an abbreviation but in general referring to people by their race/ethnic origin/whatever in situations where such distinctions aren't really necessary is something I would generally classify as XXXX-ism. Anyway, my point is it doesn't matter either way in the case of this jackass footballer.

Well put. I have also heard what you are saying about the term, but I don't believe it. I think it wasn't considered racist because it didn't matter if it was because racism itself was so unproblematic. As for a written abbreviation for Japan or Japanese, there has always been Jpn. Any defence of the term (other than musings like yours) is simply White Anger biting back for being called on being cunts, or just simple, abject stupidity. I refuse to respond when people use it, but I also refuse to believe their BS excuses for doing so.

Weird thing is I have never heard anyone use the term 'Jap' back in Canada except for Royal Canadian Legion winos. Now maybe I've been away a long time, but I'm sceptical that many people use it today and I get the feeling that many of the people who do use the term do so to bait morons. So to me, Take search for victimdom harks me back to my time at Uni when I was dating a socology major who would who would only consumate the deal if I had the right victim pedigree. It is a very charming earnest dogma, but Christ it`s a tad too batshit crazy for me.

In Canada, sure. I hear it 3 or 4 times a week in Japan. My Aunty Podean friends are definitely baiting me, which is fine, but lots of theirs use it as a normal word, as when complimenting somebody on their language skills or commenting on how much they like the local food. To be fair to the Brits it seems to be only genuine Brittrash and the older Legion war creeps that use it anymore. Like that douche in the video. But all of that doesn't mean it's not racist, it just means they're cretins. Nothing wrong with calling him out on it, but it's hardly an international incident. That sociology girl sounds hot, btw. I have also enjoyed a bit of undergraduate post-structuralism. hubba hubba Hegel

I just remembered that when I was a kid before anime became the common term for Japanese animation people called in Japamation. I don't think they were trying to be racist but once they realized it sounded bad the preferred term became Japanimation. Plus Japanimation rolls off the tongue a little more easily. Though I guess it could still sound racist depending when you put the emphasis.

Yes, vague memories of emergent dorkiness are being recalled ..........earlyish - mid 80s perhaps................. As long as it doesn't use Jap it's fine. Like you said, Japanimation sounds better anyways. Japanification, Japanolojisms, Japanafantasctica, WTF you want. Some almost clever Aunty Podeans used to quibble that insisting on "Jpn" would confuse the language and the people, which would be true if you had soaked your head in a dirty billabong for the first 20 years of your life and thought thongs were shoes, but for the rest of us there's context.

At least one of them wasn't a tourist. He lives here.

I haven't seen too many Hispanic high jinks in Asakusa but I did see a group of them on the street have a very spirited conversation with lots of big body languages as those Latin types are prone too. A little old Japanese lady who looked to be pushing 90 came hobbling by on a cane and decided to walk directly behind one of them leaving only a few inches of space just as he jumped back for emphasis which threw her off balance. He tried to catch her but she toppled over. I didn't stick around to see whether or not she got hurt because I didn't want to end up being dragged into interpreting if the cops showed up but it was definitely the type of accident that could cause a life ending hip break in someone her age.
