Didn't he have that already over the last couple of decades?

I think, he was, now he also has.

Allegedly, there were three Kim's at the missile launch.
Via @NoonInKorea:
Three Kim Jong Uns running around Hwasong-14 as it gets separated from its camouflage TEL. The Kim Jong-uns dressed in identical striped Mao suits and dorky fade haircuts were running around in pitch dark (11:45pm) have a great time at their summer fireworks.

Weapons experts said that while the missile had a range of just around 1,000km, its apogee – the highest point it reached during flight – was up to 3,700km. It was in flight for 47 minutes.
The missile was fired more vertically than laterally, meaning its range was substantially reduced.
North Korea’s latest test “demonstrated it can hit targets throughout the United States,” Mr Lewis told The Independent. “If you straighten out the apogee, that can basically hit everything from LA almost to [Washington] DC.”

Dunno what'll happen.
The only positive sign is that the US continues to talk with the South Korean government, which is negatively inclined towards war with the North.
However, with all the craziness currently going on in D.C., there may come a time that Trump will try to draw attention away from his scandals by starting to bomb. Never mind the approximately 1 million people in South Korea who will likely die as a result of a counterattack by the North.

BUT...
Seeing a missile go high then fallback not far from the launching pad. And use it as a demonstration for saying if they fire lower altitude and flatter trajectory then it's gonna reach New York... That thinking works for stones and arrows... for ICBM that start to be quite a stretch. Especially when we have 0 data aboot the programmed trajectory VS what the missile did. Shooting sort of eastward and hitting the sea do not translate well to: fire, cross the pacific, the continental US and explode over New York... on purpose...
And lastly
When the fuck are those keitai alerts will finally ring for DPRK's missile launch ?
The launch of what would have been Japan’s first privately developed rocket to reach outer space failed Sunday off Hokkaido after telemetry was lost, forcing it to be aborted, the Hokkaido-based developer said.
Officials from Interstellar Technologies Inc., founded by former Livedoor Co. President Takafumi Horie, said the 10-meter-long Momo rocket was aborted after communications with the rocket’s telemetry system failed about 80 seconds after liftoff. The rocket was launched from the town of Taiki, on the island’s south coast.
The rocket fell into the Pacific Ocean about 8 km offshore after its engine was halted, they said.

There's weird focus issues...
Tv as been on and on aboot ICBM's for few hours...
"Ermugerd new york new york... might be in targetting range..."
Meanwhile... the fact that had it been a hot payload Some beach in Hokkaido would be glowing in the dark for a couple of days already...

No, that appears not to be Coligny's point, if I understand his latest post correctly.
Anyway, the fact that those missiles can reach anywhere in America is enough reason for alarm for the Pentagon & Co.

That's a bit part of what bugs me... you are surely right aboot the missiles being able to reach anywhere in america.
It's surely mathematically true. Now there is not much backing to the question regarding wether or not they can reach -somewhere on purpose- in america.
If you give me a Famas rifle I can fire at a target at 400m. In theory, like this missile. Am I going to be able to hit a selected target at 400m ? Not much...
Can DPRK shoot at the USA... seems yes (with numerous crippling parameters ignored)but with a target this size... it have huge chances to blow where nobody can see it... unless you are CNN then it's precise enough to hit the transgender toilets at thenpentagon.
