Comedy duo Downtown have a feature on one of their programmes, Akan Keisatsu, where they take a look at cheesy local television commercials and judge whether they are terrible or passable. The clip above shows them watching a series of spots for Nagoya jewellery store Bihodo where the owner Nonogaki appears with his grandson Gai-kun. We see Gai-kun getting older as the years go by, his voice breaks and the panellists note that a team of girls appear as the grandson reaches 16. Gai-kun's father also pops up, as he has been promoted to company president, and grandad gets fewer lines. The duo presenting this commercial to the Akan Keisatsu then mention that Gai-kun was ridiculed at school for his appearances on TV and show a picture of him seemingly turned delinquent. At this point, the panellists vote 4-1 that the adverts are not unbearably bad. Hamada of Downtown then finishes the segment by saying that Gai-kun is in the audience and asks him to stand. Now 22, he says that he is currently a student. The panellists revote 5-0 against Bihodo.
