What's So Good About Japan?

Postby Mulboyne » Mon Jun 20, 2011 9:18 am

A question posed by a recent contest called the "My Japan Award". Here are two of the prizewinners. I quite like the first one:

Didn't like this one:

This one steals from a scene in "Tampopo"

I think I know why this one didn't win:

Japan is a land of contrasts:

LOL, I've seen more fights started here, resulting from Japanese bumping into each other, than for any other reason. I just wish I was faster with my cell to get em on video. That video should really say "Japanese people lap up the uniqueness/superiority Kool-Aid like it was water."

Reminds me of another J-contribution: Hide with Spread Beaver.
Never criticize anyone until you've walked several kilometres in their shoes.
Because

1. You're now several kilometres away; and

2. You've got their shoes.

I get the feeling that one may have been on purpose, especially as he was so well hung; fatally, as it turned out....

Engrish is one of the things I adore about Japan. I hate mocking the Japanese over their English skills, especially because everybody is so earnest and intense when it comes to their understanding of the world's lingua franca...but I do it anyway.

I enjoy it until the engrish causes problems at work...like when Japanese want something double size and use "W" to indicate it to the U.S. I remember a big fight at one company I was at where the invoice from the U.S. indicated something as a "service" and the Japanese assumed it mean it was free. :crazy3: When they were told otherwise, they said they were being swindled and started the "in Japan" rant and calling the company "a bunch of liars."

You dipshits....surely you should know that Japanese knowledge of English is superior to those people who've grown up using it daily in every aspect of their lives. God, the Japanese learn English for at least six years, 10 if they graduate from university. And many spend two weeks or more on homestays in English-speaking countries where they gather together with their expat cuntrymen and talk to each other about what it's like living in a gaijin cuntry.

Shit, of course they know how to English better than mere native-speakers...
