Anyone from Uk on a working holliday Visa?

Postby Jushin-Thunder-Liger » Sun Apr 04, 2004 5:10 am

I am from the Uk, and have been to Japan a couple of times before.
Basically i want to visit Tokyo for 2 months next time round, and hopefully get a working holliday Visa, to get some work, if needed.
The purpose of my trip, is to experiance Tokyo as a resident, with lots of time to appreciate living in Japan, unlike my previous "Smash and Grab" visits.
i have looked into the working holliday Visa, it seems i need to have my plane ticket and accomodation sorted out before i apply, is it right i cant apply for a working visa, then if successfull, get my plane ticket then?
I am a 26 year old graduate, and would just be looking for somthing casual, like bar-work or freelance English teaching.
Anyone here had a working holliday visa?
Is working on a tourist visa a big no-no?
Will no-one employ me without a Visa?
Any tips?
Basically help!, anyone here done anything similar?
It is a very new program, and getting real info about it is HARD

Dude, how is this any different from your other topic?

If you've got new information about your situation or plans, why not just tack it on to your previous topic instead of making a whole new one? No need to ask basically the same question twice.

Yeah i should have tacked it onto another topic.
I started a new one to see if anyone from the Uk was on a working holliday visa, only 400 were issued last year, and getting info on them is bloody hard, most sites don't give advice from anyone who has actually done it, just standard, and sometimes conflicting info, on how to apply.
Smash and Grab?, you know what i mean, not enough time, half a day in Shinjuku, then half in Shibuya and so on. Not really seing anything
