'Right now, we have an emergency' - Nuclear Reg. Authority

Postby Taro Toporific » Tue Aug 06, 2013 2:10 am

Japan nuclear body says radioactive water at Fukushima an 'emergency'
Reuters | Mon Aug 5, 2013 8:24am EDT By Mari Saito and Antoni Slodkowski
Highly radioactive water seeping into the ocean from Japan's crippled Fukushima nuclear plant is creating an "emergency" that the operator is struggling to contain, an official from the country's nuclear watchdog said on Monday.
This contaminated groundwater has breached an underground barrier, is rising toward the surface and is exceeding legal limits of radioactive discharge, Shinji Kinjo, head of a Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA) task force, told Reuters.
Countermeasures planned by Tokyo Electric Power Co are only a temporary solution, he said.
Tepco's "sense of crisis is weak," Kinjo said. "This is why you can't just leave it up to Tepco alone" to grapple with the ongoing disaster.
"Right now, we have an emergency," he said.

This is not a problem. All they need to do is raise the acceptable legal level of radioactive discharge and it'll be under control again.

And hire another cheerleading gaijin...

But seriously, this country can't contain its radioactive problems within its borders, since it is now leaking out to the ocean. Time for an invasion by a foreign state that has the technology to deal with this?

I wonder how long it will take them just to give up, cover the whole place with blue vinyl sheets and place an oyaji with a red sticklight to stop incoming traffic.

it's not just technology, it's a way of thinking: the ability to think critically, not relying on group decisions, the ability to make quick decisions.

Not trying to stand up for our grossly inept and incompetent hosts, but there's hardly a cuntry on earth that is not like that...except Somalia or other basket cases lacking governments. Even there if you act in a rash manner, they'll just blow your head off and your bereaved family don't even get the satisfaction of retribution. Unless some warlord decides to impose Shariah, which would be real fun.

Are you suggesting we act like Edward Snowden? Admirable perhaps, but that dumbfuck weaboo is gonna be miserable pretty much for the rest of his life, I reckon.

Just drink the Kool Aid, mate, and pretend all that other shit is not happening...

You mean hardly every government....

Besides the hive mindset, keep in mind Japan isn't exactly full of the qualified/experienced engineers needed to handle this situation.

What I'm saying is that Japanese people lack the mental skills that these kinds of situations require, so things really would be better if control was handed over to some gaijin.

TEPCO has fucked this up beyond belief, again. But I am fascinated to hear about your mental skills.

Even as a gaijin, I can barely work my coffee machine properly, much less run a nuclear power plant.

Sorry, I'm being too smarmy today.

I'm all for anyone fixing Fuckushima. Personally, I think you grossly underestimate the abilities of some of the people in this cuntry. There are plenty of brilliant people here who are entirely capable of thinking outside the box. (I can't. I think of cunt 24/7.)

Japan has a record of calling to foreigners for help, like, never...(yet implicitly demands it because of its dependency characteristics), so I don't fancy your chances of seeing a charger riding over the figurative hill of Fuckushima while bearing a white knight (and a yellow, black, brown or red knight is even more inconceivable, wouldn't you agree?)

I do think the conformity stereotype is a little overdone, probably because of the uniform fetish. Try to be a non-conformist in the West and you'll be smashed to pieces faster than Japan, I bet. I'd even argue it's easier to be non-conformist in Japan compared to the Anglosphere, at least.

Signing off, my technical skills are well below the standard of excellence set by omae mona...

Plenty? Me thinks not...

In short, the bulk of Japan's engineers have retired, gone overseas, while engineering isn't appealin' for the youngin's to get into, but unlike other countries that import foreign engineers....TIJ, resulting in an ever decreasing supply of these guys.

That article was pretty damn prescient for 2008!

...said Kazuhiro Asakawa, a professor of business at Keio University. “An explosion is going to take place. They see it coming, but no one is doing enough about it.”

I nearly grew another bunghole at the Totoya museum when they were proudly showing how difficult it was for them to reverse engineer an american car to make their first vehicle...

When people are schooled to be a hive of yes men idiots... Not a big stretch to use the label for the rest of the country...

It's okay to say they have short legs from lack genetic diversity but not that they are idiots because of lack of social and intellectual diversity ? In the middle age Yurop had to go through the time of lights in the 16th century to switch from dumb as fuck to "look at mah aircarrier, it'z n00k00larh too..."
Don't remember this kind of socio-economico-intellectual happenstance for Japan... Just one day the gates opened and they decided they where better than any other... Then the Merkins bombed the shit out of them... Then they decided that they where better than any other... Again... Waiting to see who will bomb the shit out of them next...

Really non PC and post colonialist rant next:
Accept it guys, today not all culture are the same, some stagnate and get real good at building hut with cow dung and dying of starvation. Some evolve so far that they go full circle back to the dark ages (and stone age if we don't takes their nuke missiles offline soon)... Some just get awesome and stay there...
The troubles usually rise when some busybody see the starving one and consider we should help. Then some other busybody (of the same kind but angry to be late to the game) say they are as good as us and we should not be colonialist master... Then it become a shitfest of allmighty attention whore...
Japan would have been much less of a problem if it had became a 53rd States back in the days , lack of natural resources and not enough existing Soviet to be a threat fucked this option...
(ok, no if in history i stop here. Especially with what England did to India, leaving behind a cow worshipping shithole without indoor plumbing but nukes like the big boys...)
