End-of-Tokyo.gif

The End of Japan (the rest of world is inconsequential) is foretold in the 12th Tzolkin of the Mayan Calendar. The prophecy IS coming true today, December 21st!

End of the world kinda came...I got fired (again) a few weeks back, but given notice until the end of this year. Came into the orifice this morning to find a message from the company asking me to leave ASAP. Merry Christmas!!!

Make sure when you go to get your unemployment they didn't tick off the "quit by his own free will" box. They seem to think FG like that.

At least you're consistent. So what is your standard method for getting canned so regularly?

On a slightly more serious note, have you considered freelance work? Seems like the better and possibly more lucrative way to apply your rhetoric skills.

I was an even bigger failure freelancing than I've been in the corporate world. I've got virtually no acumen, nous and even less tact. I've also got some stranger baggage to carry around than a lot of people, which is making it tough to earn a living.

Actually, this time wasn't really my fault...the company that hired me miscalculated and even gave me a longer time than they needed as notice so I could look for more work. I had an interview yesterday, out of the blue, and left them in the lurch a little, which obviously peeved people.

Anyway, I'm sorry...I shouldn't be letting my self-pity air itself here.

I can't think of a better place to do that than on a thread title "THE END of Japan (and the world)!!!" on a site called "fuckedgaijin"

Apart from maybe the pub.

Blessed be friend. WE light workers are here to guide you and expell the evil forces of demonic entities that inhabit the 4th realm. You are too focused on the material manifestation of what may be. Doing is not the answer, you must be and accept the light. We can SEE NOW but a place inside your hearts a passage. Open in your mind ...

END OF THE WORLD POSTPONED
WWNews | December 21, 2012
YUCATAN -- Mayan scholars have updated their doomsday prophecy. The world will end in 2015, not 2012.Oops…. They made a mistake.   There’s good news for those who were fearing the 2012 Mayan apocalypse.   They counted wrong.   The world is not going to end in December 2012.  Instead, it’s going to end on September 3, 2015.   Update your daily planners!...
...The problem was discovered when researchers realized the Mayan calendar was converted to today’s Gregorian calendar using an erroneous calculation called the GMT constant, named for the last initials of three early Mayanist researchers.
But the GMT constant is completely bogus.  “The Mayan researchers of the past twenty years put too much stock in the GMT,” said Mayan expert Robert Wannamaker.  “They probably were chewing on too many cocoa leaves. The fact is that the GMT constant is 2 years and 271 days off.  We’ve proven that conclusively hear at The Scripps Institute.”

END OF THE WORLD POSTPONED
WWNews | December 21, 2012

:shroom: :shroom: Alternate reading of Mayan calendar suggests end of the world is next week :shroom: :shroom:
nypost.com | June 13, 2020
...
The reading of the Mayan calendar was wrong according to a conspiracy theory on Twitter, and while the world didn’t end on Dec. 21, 2012, as originally prophesied by calendar readers, Mayan doomsday is sometime this week or next....
...
Following the Julian Calendar, we are technically in 2012… The number of days lost in a year due to the shift into Gregorian Calendar is 11 days… For 268 years using the Gregorian Calendar (1752-2020) times 11 days = 2,948 days. 2,948 days / 365 days (per year) = 8 years,” scientist Paolo Tagaloguin... adding up all the missed days, then the Mayan doomsday date is … this week.

Your pitchfork will rust before the next cycle is complete.

"Scientist" Paolo Tagaloguin is a researcher in Biotechnology born in the Philippines in 1993, a Fulbright scholar at the University of Tennessee. The article was based on a tweet in an account he has since deleted. The 11 day discrepancy between the Julian and Gregorian calendars is not annual, it was based on 10 days for all the years 45 BC to 1582 AD. The year 1752 AD was the year of change by the United Kingdom (and hence the North American colonies, of which Tennessee is a later development), and by that time the discrepancy over some 1800 years was 11 days. Not that this has anything to do with the Spanish colonies and the Maya because they had changed calendar back in 1582. When Russia changed calendar in 1918 the discrepancy was 13 days.

Yes I am aware that Taro's source is, well, that level of source, but this one makes my brain bleed more than the space aliens impregnating Britney Spears articles.
