OK, now that shit is really scary. It may not be common knowledge, but it's a fact that most of the tsunami deaths can be at least partially attributed to that stuff as well. Horrifying.

Thank you Nikoneko. Never heard of that stuff before. Damn. And I'm sure that there is plenty of that stuff in this fvcking shlthole of China. Hangzhou is OK, but almost all cities around it are full of the most insane levels of air, water and noise pollution, that unless you've been here, you would not believe. And it all gets much worse with the rainy season in June, July and August.

And in Japan, they say that the rainy season is coming early this year due to La Nina. And during the rainy season, it is well known that southeast winds blow across Japan from the Pacific and then they will blow over the South China sea and then come here.

And you all can deny it and tell me "fuck you" etc. etc. but that doesn't fvcking matter because it is now very clear that the world's sixth mass extinction event has already begun.

I've heard that the amount of Dihydrogen Monoxide in the atmosphere really increases during the rainy season. You should get the hell out before it's too late.

The worst part is they are literally just pouring this shit over the reactors in Fukushima I read on a blog post. They say it's just "sea water" but whatever...

The really awesome thing is that China's mandarins have contemplated using nukes to blast out mountainsides in order to make dam building easier.

Looney bin mate pointed out this eerily prophetic 1988 release from RC Succession, the band fronted by the late Kiyoshiro Imawano.

Stop Drinking Tea in Japan

Postby Thug4Life » Thu May 12, 2011 5:15 am

Cesium Above Limit Detected in Tea Leaves in Kanagawa Pref.

Yokohama, May 11 (Jiji Press)--Kanagawa Prefecture said Wednesday that levels of radioactive cesium above the safety limit have been detected in tea leaves grown in the eastern Japan prefecture.

Tea leaves collected on Monday in the city of Minamiashigara contained 550 to 570 becquerels of radioactive cesium per kilogram, exceeding the 500-becquerel limit.

The prefecture asked the city and agricultural cooperatives to refrain from new shipments and to collect all new tea leaves picked this season, officials said.

Shipments of this season's tea leaves began on Friday and some products have already been sold to consumers, they said.

Kanagawa Prefecture is the first to detected radioactive cesium in tea leaves since the nuclear crisis at Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s <9501> Fukushima No. 1 power plant began in March, the officials added.

I understand that for some people it may be difficult to comprehend what Dr. Robert Jacobs (who is a Research Associate Professor of Nuclear History and Culture in Hiroshima, Japan) said as he does speak pretty fast. And since it is clear that English is not your first language or you have just been in the now very dirty Dishpan for way too long and cannot keep up with the native English level of speaking anymore, I have transcribed the most significant ("important") parts that Dr. Robert Jacobs said in the above video for your review and ESL benkyou:

2:04 - "Well this is a reflection of the incredibly small amount of information that even Tepco and the Japanese government are operating with. Just in the last day or two the government entered for the first time since the accident happened entered into reactor #1. And the idea was that they were going to vent out the radiation that was contained in the building and begin to install a new cooling system. But once they entered into the building they found that the levels inside were so high that it became impossible to work there. They're now at such a high level that one worker working for ten minutes will receive a lifetime dose of exposure. So, clearly, Tepco and the government are still in the process of just beginning to learn what are the current conditions so it's very hard to solve these problems when you don't really know what the sources of the radiation are."

3:27 - "And now just tonight actually in a release of information from the Japanese government they have confirmed that they're has been work started yesterday to shore up the structure of the building and specifically the upper floor. Now in this reactor you have the spent fuel pool that is a much larger spent fuel pool it has fuel rods from 3-4 reactors in there. And this part of the building is beginning to lean and because of the explosion of reactor 3 there is some questions about the structural integrity of the building of reactor 4. And if that were to collapse, you would have all the fuel in that spent fuel pool just scattered about on the ground. And outside of increasing a very, very high level of contamination, you would also have radiation rise to levels that would make it very problematic for workers to continue to work on the site at all."

4:36 - "In these situations managing public opinion is as serious an operation as managing the crisis itself. What you have here in Fukushima is you have four reactors that are all still emitting significant amounts of radiation into the environment. So this is not a situation that has been brought under control, it is a situation in which large releases have been, ah largely, the explosions of the first week have been gone past but now we just have ongoing leakage. So to continue to tell people about that leakage and to continue to provide a lot of information about about that leakage, will cause higher levels of distress and also the perception that neither Tepco nor the government is in control of the situations. So it's a lot easier to just reduce the information that the public has so that you are able to control the situation at least from the point of view of public opinion and keep people from panicking."

I really hope that this helps you in your struggle to begin to understand what is really happening right now. But if you have some questions, need a more detailed explanation or wish to have more of the video transcribed for you, just let me know.

Cheers! :D

Pardon my ignorance (and said ignorance is significant), but I wonder if anyone can help by providing a simple explanation.

My understanding is the Chernobyl plant was basically buried under a shiteload of concrete to contain its leaking radiation.
Japan, if nothing else, is a master of dumping shiteloads of concrete over stuff, but is not doing so yet. Is this because this incident would not involve despoiling natural beauty, which seems to be a prerequisite for concrete dumping?
Judging by past Japanese actions, global shame over the handling of the disaster could easily be avoided by dumping a shiteload of concrete over the reactor and pretending the whole thing never happened...just like WWII (bar the bombed parts).
Is there a reason why this can't happen?

Being a

"Research Associate Professor of Nuclear History and Culture in Hiroshima, Japan"

ie., a sociologist - cultural anthropologist

does not make one knowledgeable about nuclear physics and nuclear engineering.

Is there a reason why this can't happen?

Here's how I understand it.

One reason is that they can't entomb the facility until the fuel in the reactors and the spent fuel pools is completely cool. The fuel has to be actively cooled (i.e. by pumping cool water over it) to a point at which it won't react any further, otherwise it will just get hotter and hotter and nasty things that even a concrete bunker can't contain can happen. That cooling process can take months.

Also, simply dumping concrete over the thing won't guarantee that there'll be no further leakage, even if it's done when the reactors and fuel pools are fully cooled down. They'll need to remove the fuel and seal it in containers that will have to be stored under careful management somewhere, clean up the remaining mess as much as possible, and then entomb the facility. Otherwise you'll have a huge pile of concrete that's leaking radiation into the environment. That's happening in Chernobyl now, and they're starting work on a second outer casing for the initial one.

It'll take a while.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You can think and write and insult me by whatever way you want to. However, I will not tolerate having my intelligence insulted at all. And, of course, I don't know, nor profess to know everything. I'm just a freaking English teacher with no future. Whatever. Anyway, you all can say "fvck you" and call me a "troll" or whatever you want to. None of that matters. But calling me an "idiot" was quite unwarranted and, IMHO, fully deserved the above reply.

Anyway, I am not going to apologize until someone else does first. Whatever. It doesn't matter. We all only have about five more years or so before the earth becomes another lunar landscape.

Another victim of the Dunning&#8211]The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled people make poor decisions and reach erroneous conclusions, but their incompetence denies them the metacognitive ability to appreciate their mistakes. The unskilled therefore suffer from illusory superiority, rating their ability as above average, much higher than it actually is, while the highly skilled underrate their own abilities, suffering from illusory inferiority. Actual competence may weaken self-confidence, as competent individuals may falsely assume that others have an equivalent understanding. As Kruger and Dunning conclude, "the miscalibration of the incompetent stems from an error about the self, whereas the miscalibration of the highly competent stems from an error about others" [/quote]
