Beware Exfoliating Eels

Postby yanpa » Sun Nov 03, 2013 10:43 pm

Teh Grauniad wrote:... One particular concern for the inspectors is a new treatment that spas are looking to import from China which involves full-body immersion in a tank of eels. – an extension of the fish pedicures that have been popular in recent years t he treatment uses a number of eels – each eel about the length of a pencil, to exfoliate a skin.

"In one case a stray eel found its way through the man's genitals and into his kidney, and he ended needing a three-hour operation," Nixon told the conference. "This is the sort of procedure that is coming your way."

The alarming example is apparently that of Zhang Nan, a 56-year-old man from Hubei province in China. "I climbed into the bath and I could feel the eels nibbling my body," Nan said shortly after the incident two years ago. "But then suddenly I felt a severe pain and realised a small eel had gone into the end of my penis."

Ouch, going to China next week.

Good to know what to avoid this time...

It is clear that this Chinese guy should have worn a condom before undergoing the eel treatment.

Not that it helps against HIV and Hep C infections...

So true. I actually learned the Kanji for china when grocery shopping. I'll spend the extra yen for the nihono niniku.... not from fukushima.

Without any apparent standardized/required labeling, that can sometimes be difficult.

Actually that makes me wonder. The wife started buying her rice from Kyushu because of all the radiashuns farther north. Would it stand to reason that some of these farming and agricultural businesses would just start selling their crops farther south as though they were from that region? I mean it can't be too hard for a distributor or larger agribusiness to pull off.

It wouldn't be the first time here.
