The mention of weapons is what would make it another giant fuck up for French intel.
Unlike your random simple loony with a truck... Which is universally able to go unnoticed.

I'm astounded that a single guy could kill 77 (current count) people with a truck.

He plowed it through a crowded street right after a fireworks display...sounds like it could have been much worse but he was shot.

It has now come out that he started shooting before he was shot.

It was apparently a Renault midlum box truck 4x2 (max 20t and 300bhp). Not a Kamaz with offroad tires...

I guess being blown up is much worse than being shot.

Yes. Run over. Anyone who has been part of a large crowd making its way out of a big event will immediately know how doing this killed so many people.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I dunno. There is usually "stuff" other than people on the streets. Utility poles, other vehicles, walls, and other impediments to hitting more than a few people. The death toll is 80 now? He might have shot some, but he also must have had a very clear run at the crowd. That is a lot of deaths from one truck. I am still amazed (just FTR: not in a good way).

Just guessing but likely they had the streets blocked off for pedestrians and this guy used the truck to smash through whatever barriers they had and mow down people

There are a few videos on news sites. The road was being used as a pedestrian thoroughfare, hence the death toll.

Local reports suggest that the 31-year-old man was a quiet, angry man who never seemed especially religious

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/nice-attack-killer-mohamed-lahouaiej-bouhlel-who-is-he-age-nationality-isis-latest-news-updates-a7138951.html

The man who killed 84 people by driving a truck into them in Nice was not especially religious and showed no signs of extremism, according to reports. Reports have named the man as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a 31-year-old French-Tunisian man. Though he was known to police for anti-social behaviour, he had no file with the specialist division who monitor possible terrorism

He didn’t seem to be especially religious, according to people who lived in the same area. A cousin of the attacker's estranged wife said that he "was not religious" – he did not pray or observe Ramadan and ate pork – and said that he was just "a s***", MailOnline reported.

To me the evidence, including the indiscriminate nature of the attack, points to mental health issues, but the media are relentless in framing this in terms of ISIS.

http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/nice-terrorist-attack-france-isis-muslims-ignite-race-war-right-wing-a7138376.html

Nice is a very different city to Paris or Lyon – and a clever choice for igniting race war

fucking idiots, they are acting like the tin foil hat brigade, do they think ISIS controls muslims through radio waves or something?

unbacked sound profound and smarty bullshit...
I would not be surprised if the driver just lost his shit because of slow traffic without remembering it was 14 of July... well except for the guns and grenades... but maybe he was just scared of Syrians stowaways...

The driver's papa said on tv that he had trouble with his wife. Which would make perfect sense. Mad wives can easily do that to any man. So the driver may actually just be the victim of the circumstance.

Very true. It reminds me of an incident in Thailand many years ago when a neighbour put a bullet through our wood house with his handgun. He almost got the maid - missed her by a metre or so. When called to account he apologised and explained it was because he was drunk (at 9 o'clock in the morning). And it wasn't really his fault because the mad wife had wound him up which was the direct cause of the whiskey drinking and the enraged playing with the gun. In rural Thailand this actually passed muster with the landlady who was handling the negotiations.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

The guy had a 'carte de sejour' french version of the gaijin card.
I don't think it allows to have registered weapons.
So... That leave the issue of guns open.
And...
Need to check the law by the number but grenades being weapons of war they are not allowed to be owned by civilians... So if they really found some in the truck it might again be some albania/bosnian black market import. Orr just vacation souvenir from Tunisia...

Meanwhile, when just a few days ago we saw Patrick Calvar, head of French security saying publicly that civil war in France is somewhat of a inevitability we now have Cazeneuve, the French interior minister calling on patriotic French who are willing (his literal words), to join the national reserve. This. Such is my pent-up rage at the ex that I could massacre an entire medium-size French town armed with only a 2CV (a proper one not the Diane version) and a stale baguette.

(For the benefit of Wagyl, I just chugged down an entire 2 litre bottle of Nikka Black).

Nice, France (CNN)French authorities arrested an Albanian couple Sunday in connection with the Nice terror attacks that killed 84 people last week, the Paris prosecutor's office spokeswoman told CNN.

Apparently the french police anti terrorist unit ordered the city of Nice to erase all CCTV records relating to the attentat.

(ok... Russell... say the thing you usually say there... because the whole clusterfuck smell worse than forgotten litterbox on a summer day...)

http://www.france24.com/fr/20160722-att ... terrorisme

City official quickly responded with a sort of fuck you and asked a judge for these record to be protected as evidence...

(Russell, you done ?)

The question aboot "who the fuck let a giant box truck enter a pedestrian street during a firework" still remain unanswered...
