German court jails four men in al Qaeda cell for planning attack

I am fully supportive of all efforts to curtail terrorist activity whether foreign or domestic, but I do wonder about the wisdom and even propriety of jailing convicted criminals in these special Al Qaeda cells. Perhaps it is a dietary concern, and it certainly shows the equanimity and fairness for which modern Germany is renowned, especially given their own understandable love of pork dishes, but I would think that for security reasons and even for any hope of rehabilitation the convicted would be better off separated and made to serve their sentences in the general prison population rather than in specially designed cells where their nefarious motivations and intentions might well be strengthened and honed rather than weakened.

It might even be appropriate to have them wear special prison uniforms, perhaps with an armband made of pigskin and marked with the Mohammedan crescent moon, in keeping with German penal tradition.
