Formula 1: 'Grid girls' will not be used at races this season

Beebs wrote:Grid girls' will no longer be used by Formula 1 from the start of the 2018 World Championship season.

Sean Bratches, managing director of commercial operations, said the change would be made "so as to be more in tune with our vision for this great sport".

F1 managing director of motorsports Ross Brawn told BBC Radio 5 live in December that the use of female promotional models was "under review".

The new F1 season begins on 25 March.

"While the practice of employing grid girls has been a staple of Formula 1 grands prix for decades, we feel this custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms," Bratches added.

"We don't believe the practice is appropriate or relevant to Formula 1 and its fans, old and new, across the world."

Darts: PDC to scrap walk-on girls after broadcaster talks
Beebs wrote:Walk-on girls will no longer be used by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) after talks with broadcasters.

The long-established practice of women escorting male players to the stage will be abandoned, starting with this weekend's Masters in Milton Keynes.

World number one Michael van Gerwen has said the tradition should end.

But walk-on girl Charlotte Wood, who says darts accounts for 60 per cent of her income, says her rights "are being taken away".

WTF is happening? Next we hear that every woman in public has to wear the burkha, unless she is ugly?

Many grid girls in Oz are complaining about the feminists taking their jobs away.

In the end, these feminazis shoot themselves in the foot. If women get no more promotions, because they are more trouble than worth and it's much easier to work with "bros", even if they're less qualified for the job, then they stay at the bottom of the food-chain continueng to bark up all the wrong trees.

Just because we blokes admire the beauty of a girl doesn't make her a prostitute. Just because a flower or an artwork is pretty, and maybe the only reason for its existence is to be pretty, then that doesn't make it worthless?

Actual cases of sexual harrassment are of course a different story.

Oh what will the twit(ter) verse do without them?!

Seriously though, this is one of those "you're not making the argument you think you are" moments. Pay me and I'll go be a grid boy.

Victorian nymphs painting back on display after censorship row
A gallery is to put a Victorian painting of naked adolescent girls back on display after a row over censorship.
Manchester Art Gallery said it took down Hylas and the Nymphs by JW Waterhouse to "encourage debate" about how such images should be displayed.

But critics accused curators of being puritanical and politically correct. The painting will return on Saturday.

"It's been clear that many people feel very strongly about the issues raised," Manchester City Council said.

The 1896 painting was removed a week ago in an attempt to rethink the "very old-fashioned" way images of women's bodies were exhibited as "either as passive beautiful objects or femmes fatales".

Curator Clare Gannaway said: "It's not about saying these things can't exist in a public gallery - it's about saying, maybe we just need to challenge the way these paintings have been read and enable them to speak in a different way."

Visitors were invited to write their views about the decision on sticky notes and post them in the vacant space.

But after a backlash, the city council, which runs the gallery, announced that the painting would return to the wall.

The gallery's interim director Amanda Wallace said: "We were hoping the experiment would stimulate discussion, and it's fair to say we've had that in spades - and not just from local people but from art-lovers around the world.

"Throughout the painting's seven day absence, it's been clear that many people feel very strongly about the issues raised, and we now plan to harness this strength of feeling for some further debate on these wider issues."

The gallery is now planning a series of public events "to encourage further debate"...

She's basically against women marrying without really committing, then taking half the guy's wealth, kids, etc. in the divorce so she wants legal repercussions for marrying in bad faith. Making divorce illegal seems like a silly solution but if you got rid of alimony and child support, you might push people to really consider who they choose to marry or cohabitate with.

Same with voting, you could offer people (men or women) the choice....sign up to be eligible for the draft or decline a relinquish your right to vote. Something tells me the Overton window would swing pretty hard right if that was instated. I know far too many entitled and ignorant lefties who moan and complain about how turrbbble 'merica is and how they hate their country. No way they sign up to be drafted when "America is trash" seems to be their slogan along with a bunch of perpetual victim, Marxist takes...many while raking in big $$ they don't seem to realize isn't an option in most of the rest of the world. I always ask where they plan to move that's better but all I get are fantasies and excuses. I also know plenty of bible thumping idiots on the right that I don't agree with but at least they seem more about improving the country and existing systems.
