Sweden, no Masks, no Lockdown and Herd immunity?

Postby Buraku » Tue Oct 20, 2020 12:20 am

In some ways Sweden is like Japan and in other ways not, they some leftwing socialist values and right conservative values, they have an old ancient kingdom and warrior feudal culture. It is said they are often 'hive minded' people, rarely speak out against their Swedish govement and follow an old cultural conformity from Jantelagen times – 'Law of Jante' I think its called

if the Swedish government said Everyone Mask Up! the population would have agreed
if the Swedish government say No Masks! the population agree

Some critics of Lockdowns were saying Sweden's controversial ‘herd immunity’ was the correct method all along...however it seems to have come with a big cost, Sweden while trying to let it burn through its younger healthy population it sacrificed a shit ton of its old people.

On international news media, South Korea, Iceland, Denmark, Taiwan were praised as having some of the best Corona virus response but how long would praise last with a second wave incoming?
in lefties and feminists in Aus seem to be totally fawning and gushing for Jacinda Ardern in New Zealand
Putin in Russia claims to have a magic vaccine called Sputnik-V...he says you can trust Russians honest, his own daughter has already been given it.

France and Britain went into full lockdown but it has not stopped the virus and they are getting hit with a second wave
A cartoonist Scott Adams' who predicted the last election has a Blog and online socialmedia video channel where he talks about the 'cultural' element, he takes Switzerland as an example one people with three different ethnic cultures, Swiss-French, Swiss-Italian, Swiss-German and each culture might be different, living in big or small homes, touchy feely or stand off-ish. The Germanic part of Switzerland with low numbers while the Latin parts of Switzerland had higher rates of virus, Swedish as a people, might be another of those non-touchy feely type, Sweden believing that when you are out and about in public that you leave other people alone and don’t talk to them or hug them etc. You cant really comapred Sweden to say Brazil or Mongolia or India or Mexico or Nigeria or NewZealand because all of these places are different, Sweden should really be compared to its Nordic friends.

Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden might be culturally similar but they responded very different to the new global panic with the plague pandemic.

There was a vid going viral on social media, a blonde girl showing how there was no lockdown
I think she's probably a Ukraine refugee, i guess if you were to culturally look at Sweden it seems they have refugees from all parts of the world Black, White, Yellow, Brown which in a ways might show another way Sweden is different to Japan
but no lock down here

'Sweden No Lockdowns, No Masks, No Insanity' ...reads the video title

Hashtag # LastNightInSweden

“Swedens Corona approach”
The worst and most embarassing fact may be Swedens complete failure in protecting its elderly population though.

The USA, Brazil, India all seem to have some semi-lockdown but no full on rules when it came to masks or punihsment, each region within these nations seems to have its own method with each region and state.
per capita ranking Brazil and Spain seem to have terrible numbers

Sweden has not really been hit by a big second wave but there was a cost in human lives, which shouldn't be overlooked.

Sweden compared to its neigbors in Denmark, Norway and other Nordic pals seems to have a virus rate, death rate which is 3 times or 2 times or 4 Times worse depending on how you spin the figures
the Swedish have at least twice the number of deaths as similar Nordic nations

There is also a theory out there the virus might be evolving and immunity might not prevent you from getting the virus a second time

They saved an economic slump and lockdown panic...but...
now they might be changing their minds?...or not?

> Tokyo citizens may have developed COVID-19 herd immunity:

Postby TennoChinko » Tue Oct 20, 2020 9:38 am

quote: “ With the rise in SPR [seropositivity rate] nearing 50% within our cohort, matching the time when COVID-19 cases waned, the possibility of herd immunity should be considered, particularly in the highly-dense urban scenario like Tokyo,”

Dynamic Change of COVID-19 Seroprevalence among Asymptomatic Population in Tokyo during the Second Wave
Sawako Hibino, Kazutaka Hayashida, Andrew C Ahn, Yasutaka Hayashida Posted September 23, 2020

Abstract

Importance:

Fatality rates related to COVID-19 in Japan have been low compared to Western Countries and have decreased despite the absence of lockdown. Serological tests monitored across the course of the second wave can provide insights into the population-level prevalence and dynamic patterns of COVID-19 infection.

Objective:

To assess changes in COVID-19 seroprevalence among asymptomatic employees working in Tokyo during the second wave.

Design:

We conducted an observational cohort study. Healthy volunteers working for a Japanese company in Tokyo were enrolled from disparate locations to determine seropositivity against COVID19 from May 26 to August 25, 2020. COVID-19 IgM and IgG antibodies were determined by a rapid COVID19 IgM/IgG test kit using fingertip blood. Across the company, tests were performed and acquired weekly. For each participant, serology tests were offered twice, separated by approximately a month, to provide self-reference of test results and to assess for seroconversion and seroreversion.

Setting:

Workplace setting within a large company.

Participants:

Healthy volunteers from 1877 employees of a large Japanese company were recruited to the study from 11 disparate locations across Tokyo. Participants having fever, cough, or shortness of breath at the time of testing were excluded.

Main Outcome(s) and Measure(s):

Seropositivity rate (SPR) was calculated by pooled data from each two-weeks window across the cohort. Either IgM or IgG positivity was defined as seropositive. Changes in immunological status against SARS-CoV-2 were determined by comparing results between two tests obtained from the same individual.

Results:

Six hundred fifteen healthy volunteers (mean + SD 40.8 + 10.0; range 19-69; 45.7 % female) received at least one test. Seroprevalence increased from 5.8 % to 46.8 % over the course of the summer.

The most dramatic increase in SPR occurred in late June and early July, paralleling the rise in daily confirmed cases within Tokyo, which peaked on August 4.

Out of the 350 individuals (mean + SD 42.5 + 10.0; range 19-69; 46.0 % female) who completed both offered tests, 21.4 % of those individuals who tested seronegative became seropositive and seroreversion was found in 12.2 % of initially seropositive participants. 81.1% of IgM positive cases at first testing became IgM negative in approximately one month.

Conclusions and Relevance:

COVID-19 infection may have spread widely across the general population of Tokyo despite the very low fatality rate. Given the temporal correlation between the rise in seropositivity and the decrease in reported COVID-19 cases that occurred without a shut-down, herd immunity may be implicated. Sequential testing for serological response against COVID-19 is useful for understanding the dynamics of COVID-19 infection at the population-level.

Great... just what we need after the lancet -fiasco- dumpster fire on chloroquine...

COVID-19 infection may have spread widely across the general population of Tokyo despite the very low fatality rate.

What ? That sentence does not make any sense.
Recovery rate is on average 99.5% below the 80yo class age. (This number is usually more relevant because talking mortality rate and lethality rate trigger the statistician elite squads telling you that you don’t
Understand the numbers and everybody you know is now dead)
Also... reading “may... yadda yadda...” in the conclusion of Paper make me wonder why I’m even here.

Not to surprising though... I was dragged to help translate 3 research paper this summer... and after managing To make the english more or less coherant for other human beings had to review bits of the research itself...
2 of them when printed were not even worthy of being used to wipe your ass. Those people did not understand math or logic or the purpose of research publication (no link with result being fruitful or fruitless, it was just plain shit)
