FG image files restoration project

Bored? Struggling to overcome chronic ennui? Looking for a purpose in life? Then look no further. FG has an exciting project especially for you.

The Internet Archive contains quite a few snapshots of various historical FG pages, including many image files.

We, the shadowy cabal in charge of FG, are looking for go-getting, pro-active candidates to trawl through these snapshots and take note of any archived FG images as well as the post in which they appear. We only need the images originally hosted on FG, not third party sites.

We need the image link on the Internet Archive (e.g. http://web.archive.org/web/201107110539 ... 1d6f00.jpg ) - but not the image file itself - and the link to the post it appears in on the Internet Archive ( e.g. http://web.archive.org/web/201107110457 ... aijin.com/ ).

Note that the Internet Archive has not cached all FG pages, and quite often clicking on links will get you a version of the current site, which might be confusing.

Successful candidates will receive the opportunity to have their names chiselled into the FG Totem Pole of Honour to be remembered for all eternity.

Even more successful candidates will come up with a nifty idea for automating the process (does the IA have some kind of API?)

Actually forget that, I just discovered the IA very helpfully lists all the images it has, which are being downloaded right now. It's only a portion of the image collection, but better than nothing.
