movement

Postby Mini_B » Mon Jun 20, 2005 1:37 am

It was a kind of side to side movement. I almost has a heart attack. I think I have to move out of Japan because I can't stand earthquakes. I have a phobia of being burried alive in rubble and suffocating after three days of being pinned in a terribly awkward position. If I knew I would die instantly I would be a different story.

Here in Kanagawa it was a lot of different sideways movements. Went for a looong time.

Earthquakes freak me out too (just read my blog for evidence - I blog almost each one). However life is unpredictable. Could be an earthquake or crossing the road or a dish of mochi which finishes you off. Live each day as it comes and have a bloody good time while you can is the best philosophy I can offer.

PS Taro you had a decent bath yet dirty boy?

That was a fun dreamtime. I half slept thought it when the nubile night nurse came in to check on me. She had her hand under my covers taking my pulse when I woke up. Wo0t! I thought I'd scored.
Oh and so far my as my bathing, it hasn't been "decent" yet.

6.1 on the Richter scale!!
Whooo hooo that was a good shaker. :o
Right in the middle of the Japan vs. Greece soccer game.
Was one of the longest earthquakes I have felt in Japan.

BTW, how come there are hardly any aftershocks in Japan?
I grew up in California and after any good size earthquake like this there are usually aftershocks. Any geologists out there?

I don't think it was big enough to have aftershocks. Wait for a 5 then you'll have em.

actually, i didn't feel like it was a big one last night. perhaps shibuya wasn't touched that much (which could be reassuring in some ways), or just i got USED TO THEM??? 8O

I've often times said I'd rather deal with earthquakes then tornadoes.
(I live in Alabama.) While big destructive quakes in Japan are somewhat infrequent, in Alabama every spring it's like Gojira and the entire cast of Destroy All Monsters drops out of the sky for a visit. (We've even had Tornados in November down here!)

After reading about how frequent the quakes have been lately, I'm not so sure of my previous opinion.

How do you guys get used to all the shakin' and quakin'?

It's all scary but at least meteorologists have some kind of idea when tornadoes are gonna form up. Earthquakes just happen when the fuck ever. For me I don't get used to it at all and practically poop my drawers over even the smallest tremor. I've also developed a kind of paranoia where I feel phantom earthquakes from time to time. Those scare me almost as much as the real ones.

Yeah I get that too, sometimes I could have sworn it was a quake. I got tired of not knowing so I constructed a little pendulum near my bed - now I can just look over and check.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

I've just come back from "Star Wars" which is playing at MyCal/Warner Theaters. I thought the sound effects of the space battle scenes at the beginning of the movie were amazing. Then I realized we were having an 5.7 on the Richter scale earthquake, meh.
