Bombs Explode on Bali; 19 Dead, 51 Hurt
Oct. 1 (Bloomberg) -- Bombs exploded on the Indonesia island of Bali in areas popular with tourists, said the president's spokesman. At least 19 people were killed and 51 were injured.. The blasts were almost simultaneous, AP said. At least four foreigners were among the dead, said Jakarta-based El Shinta radio, which put the death toll at about eight, with 30 people injured. The victims included at least two Americans..Details are still sketchy, with reports of two, three or four explosions. According to El Shinta, there were three bombs, two in the Jimbaran area, and one in Kuta. One bomb in Jimbaran went off 500 meters from the Four Seasons Hotel, said a receptionist there...

Lightning never strikes the same place twice.

Usually, they won't have another terrorist bombing at the same place for about 18 months so now is the time to starting booking your plane tickets. Not to mention, I'm sure the hotels will be cheap and not as crowded now. Except this logic doesn't really apply in the middle east where that place is always constantly getting blown up.

I knew the man who was killed. I teach at Hachinohe university, and he was one of the Kyomu staff. I never thought that anybody I knew would ever be affected by these terrorist attacks. This was something that always happened to somebody else. I can't believe it!

Wow. Sorry about that..

I received an email from a friend there saying he was ok. He's been staying there for awhile; loves the people and culture..

I hate fundamentalists..

ITommy, is that from the Terrorists' Code of Conduct? Please remind me of who their governing body is and where to lodge complaints when they breach the Code as there was a breach in London only recently with two attacks within weeks.

Canman, sorry to hear about your associate.

I would have normally said Id go there shortly after the bombing to take advantage of cheap flights and hotels, but after listening to the brother of a guy killed in the 2002 bombing [who was interviewed by all the news channels in turn bbc/sky/itv/..] i would seriouly reconsider - aside from letting most of the people out that theyve captured, he claims they dont have a fuckin clue what theyre doing and really need to get outside assistance to deal with the problem.

In Dublin, life goes on as normal, except when you go to the airport and EVERYBODY (even slightly crippled old white ladies) gets their shoes, belts and laptops xrayed...I saw an 8 year old being asked to take his shoes off and put them in the blue tray

In London Tube stations and trains, I find it kinda offputting when a security announcement can be heard every 5 minutes, and wish theyd give it a rest... then you see pictures like this:
