OMFG! Japan is about to run out of people!

Postby AssKissinger » Sat Dec 17, 2005 6:23 pm

Link

Japan said it expects its population to start shrinking in 2006, a year earlier than previously thought, and called for urgent measures to persuade young people to start families.

At current rates the population will peak in the new year and halve to 60 million people by 2100, a Cabinet Office report said.

"The warning lights are flashing," said Health, Labor and Welfare Minister Jiro Kawasaki. "There are many things that have to be done."

It seriously blows my mind that most people do not consider Japan (and the entire world, for that matter) grossly over populated. The first person to say something like the population of the entire world could fit in Orange County has to go sit in the corner.

It is so fucking sick and retarded that people actually want to increase Japan's population. From Sendai to Nagasaki people are packed in like Goddamn sardines. There's traffic jams from Hokkaido to Okinawa. There's not a mountain, stretch of beach or riverside that hasn't been polluted and concreted over. Christ. The social security system is fucked anyway. Let a good thing happen for Christ's sake. God bless everyone with the good sense not to breed. And to everyone with kids: I know you think you're so great and you're so proud of your family but you're the fucking problem. There are too many fucking people! Get it in you Goddamn heads!

You're basically forgetting that the only people whoo want more people are the company owners, so they can have a continuously disposable workforce and pay everyone peanuts.

what and they can't blame the jewish mafia?
obviously we're the problem =)

p.s. and as usual well you could of course offer people citizenship
instead of "permanent residence" and get every over talented foriegn employee in the world to immigrate to Japan. wouldn't be that hard really.

Even though besides the Orange County comment that is the most predictable comeback there is, I do agree with you, if my parents felt the same way I wouldn't have to live in this fucking world with dumbass baby worshipping breeders like you. Now go back to changing that diaper, cunt.

Even Japanese dogs are ageing:

Japan Times: Creature comforts fuel business boom
...Yano Research Center stated that during the last decade, the average life expectancy for dogs rose from eight or nine years to 12 or 13 -- around 70 or 80 in human terms...

Amen to that. It wouldn't be a bad thing to make breeding a privilege instead of a right. A few changes that I'd support are:

1) eliminate fertility drugs from the market (who the hell needs to pump out 10 babies at once?

2) make RU-486 and similar anti-pregnancy medication available over-the-counter everywhere.

3) enact laws similar to those that China has that strictly limit the number of children per family.

It's not that I hate kids. It's the environmental impact of having so many people in the world. The Earth can't sustain a population of 6 billion.

Ukrainian -American Couple Has 17th Child

"I talk to my friends, and they are worried their family has only one child or two," said 18-year-old Dimitry Chernenko. "They go home to nothing. I come home from school and I'm never bored. You always have something to do."

Part of that is by parental design, the mother explained, because she and her husband make certain the children keep busy with school, chores or other tasks.

Case in point. Disgusting.

Exactly.. It's hard for urban people to think beyond the suburbs.

While I do think population is a problem, I think the bigger problem is the population becoming 'Americanized'. It's strange to me that the single fat Americans think the family of 10 in Ethiopa is the problem.

I feel sorry for people who think getting older means you have to lose your spirit.

I think large families are a blessing if the parents give it their complete attention.

Any of you only children? I have a younger sister, so I don't know what its like growing up without siblings. Having 14+ brothers and sisters must be a riot.

For GJ, getting old apparently means being reduced to having to get your rocks off by taking telephoto shots of the "companions" at the Tokyo Motor Show (along with 50 million other otaku and assorted ero-oyaji).

My two yen.

Postby Pencilslave » Fri Dec 23, 2005 12:15 am

What puzzles me to no end is how so many people think that there can be no contentment in life without having children or that they're obligated to do it. Being a parent is by no means the End-All, Be-All of Existence.

I'm poor so it'll take a long time for me to save up enough to visit Japan, but if I had kids, I'd be spending all my money on diapers toys etc and it'd be nigh impossible.

It does work in reverse, having no children means you DEFINITELY will not have them to visit you. :D

All that I am trying to say, is that people have a choice. If some folks want to be parents, that's their choice. If folks like me don't want children that's our choice.

The decision to have children should be because you want them, not because of societal pressures to reproduce.

And as for ending up a lonely old man? If you make enough friends of various ages, that shouldn't happen. And even if it does, there are worse fates than spending your final years alone.

Having grown up in a time when yuppies were having kids in their 40's to solve their midlife crisises, I have to say that there is no worse reason to have a kid than to have one to prove something or "just because you feel you have to". If you truely feel that parenthood is for you, go for it. I just have a problem when people have kids for the wrong reasons. All it proves is that there is one more unloved kid in the world if you aren't up for the committment.

As for myself, I love travelling too much, (it's in my blood as my grandparents were in the Air Force,) to settle down. I may get married but whoever marries me would have to share my love of travelling the globe. Kids just aren't in that equation. One day that may change but not now.
Check out what I think you gaijins should be doing when you get to Japan at http://www.tokyoessentials.com ! Cum on, DO IT, I know you want to...

"blood's thicker than water"

I could give a rats ass less if any of you have kids. I personally don't have any... but I will say this, if you don't want to have them on your own, why not adopt some kid in a third world hell hole and give them a better chance at life.
