Private Students

Postby spyder » Sun Dec 04, 2005 2:40 am

Did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

What is the best way to go about getting private teahcers outside of my company hours? I have signed up with findstudents.net and findteachers.net, but I was wondering if there are some other ways about finding private students?

Thanks alot for your help!

Put up flyers at the internation centers and gaijin houses with your cell phone number and email address. You'll probably end up getting laid as well.

And what are these Internatio centers you talk about?

I would assume because that's where potential students know they can find teachers.

what u can do is ---> when students finish their contract with the company you work for, ask them whether or not they would like to be taught privately by you. You can charge them half the price that the company charges. This still means you should get at least 4000 Yen per hr or whatever..........

BTW, you are now a career secretary, does this allow you the time to give advice on playing around with privates?

hey. no joke mate. weird. i just stumbled upon a way on how to get privates. I rented out a room in my building and offered very very cheap English lessons to kids 4 to 5 year olds. I attracted 15 students in no time. they only pay 300 yen each. which hardly covers costs but I only teach them 5 classes and then if want to renew the price goes up to 1000 yen. it's an investment but it's worth it.

Annoyance factor: I am the ONLY western gaijin in my whole suburban area. There are zillions of kids and housewives ripe for the teaching, but my wife's mother doesn't want to go around prostituting me to the neighbours but wants me to find a "real job" instead, even if it's at an eikaiwa. AAAAARGH!

Yep, that's what I did. Got me a few good students, a few good lays, and one that eventually led to a wife and an avatar.

I've seen that guy. In a bookstore in Shinjuku, in a book about interesting arrests/mugshots.

Tried to sniff paint "the wrong way", apparently.

Ah, the dangers of changing one's avatar. When I wrote that last post, my avatar was a picture of my newborn son engaging in his first post-partum howl.
