She thought it said "blood and guts," but it really said "blood and intestines." He thought it said "rock 'n' roll," but it really said "to sway and to roll."

I am so sick of (white) people telling me how funny they find Japanese t-shirts and such written in Engrish. "Oh Engrish, it so funny". Then these same people will ink characters they can't even read on their arms and necks, and that is "ironic and thought-provoking".

I see it as laughing at the poor choice of an individual. Whether it's Engrish or a kanji tattoo/shirt/hat whatever, if it's funny I'll laugh. They're the same thing. I choose not to put kanji on me or wear them on shirts/hats because I know it's stupid.

Engrish IS often funny. Take the following photo of a shirt for example that I took while on Enoshima:

I find that funny. And I'm sure this kid would grin if I had "kintama" or some chinpunkanpun tattooed on my arm, as well he should.
