Moving companies

Postby arenson » Tue Aug 03, 2004 10:01 am

Will be taking a 1 year leave......have heard about various companies like Duck Japan, etc. Mostly need to send boxes of clothes and assume post office is best for that. But a very few items, all without original boxes--->

Electronic piano (big), multitrack recorder, printer, etc...I need to move
with a company that knows what it is doing.

Any recommendations?

If this is already written somewhere, please just point me to where.

Move is taking place mid September.

Thanks

Paul

I am also in need of a decent moving comany to move me and my things to Okinawa. I would like to get a few different quotes if possible.

Have any of you had any experiences?

Do you want to pack it yourself or have someone come in and do it all for you?
I used Kuro nekko-Yamato when I moved some stuff to a year ago. I forget what they call it but it is a large container like a protable wardrobe closet that you fill up youself and they come pick it up and ship it. I forget how much it was but for Japan it seemed reasonable if you don'y have lots of stuff.

There's information about moving in this thread. FG Lurker had a good experience with Best Service while Captain Japan says:
As for the actual moving, nothing beats a little competition:

Fill out the form (with as much detail as possible) about a week before. You'll get quotes from about 20 companies. The key is to catalog all your stuff and find a place for it on the form. It's in Japanese.

I would be tempted to try these guys.
