Alexander Kira(specialist in industrial design) laments in his book, The Bathroom that many toilets are poorly designed from the perspective of facilitating hygenic elimination. Not only is the diameter of the bowl cavity inadequate for sanitary `wiping' purposes, but the pedestal causes poor displacement of the sitter's weight, cutting off circulation in the lower limbs.
How might design be improved?
Kira calls for a larger cavity between the rim of the plastic seat, and suggests the flush handle be placed on the floor, so the flush can be activated while seated. He also champions toilets which encourage the squat vs. sit position, since the squat is the most physically-logical position to assume when answering nature's call.
Toto is urging schools to impart to children the importance of being able to freely use school toilets.
"Holding off from using the toilets could lead to problems such as chronic constipation," a Toto spokesman said.

GomiGirl wrote:I prefer Yoshi-gyu or a street-side soba or even okonomiyaki but my fave snack would have to be combini niku-man or pizza-man yummy .. Fast food was practically invented here and it is a heap tastier (and probably healthier) than plastic hamburgers and deep fried chicken!! :P

Now THAT`S a cultural insight.
GomiGirl wrote:kombini bentos are full of fat and have high calorie count and hot plastic leaches some nasty stuff.. but soba and other komibini items - like the ones you add hot water to - are not that bad.. just check the labels..
but nikuman..yummy.. my faves are from the 7-11. What are your faves?
kamome wrote:Don't have much frame for comparison. I've had AM-PM's and Circle-K's nikuman. Both are lousy compared to the stuff you get at Yokohama Chinatown. But they make for an OK snack.

Hamburgers are best from independent operators. Fish'n'chip shops are a good source in NZ. They should be greasy. Cleanliness is not an issue, you're not eating this for your health. What's important is the taste. Fat tastes good and is a required element of a great burger. Sure McDs contains fat but it's hidden, nicely packaged within the dry and tasteless pattie. The bread should not taste like cardboard. The product doesn't need to be nicely packaged. It should make a mess when you eat it. Plenty of paper napkins are required. Beef and cheese are essential. Bacon is desirable. Enjoy.
