OK Who did it? Whooo did it?

Pop singer's 1.6-million-yen bicycle stolen
MDN wrote:Famous pop singer Kiyoshiro Imawano has had his expensive bicycle stolen in Tokyo, police said.

Imawano, 54, parked his bicycle, worth about 1.6 million yen, in front of his friend's home in Shinjuku-ku and locked it with a chain at about 7 p.m. on Sunday.

He reportedly noticed the bicycle was missing about one hour later. The chain was found severed there, police said. The specially ordered, orange bicycle weighs about 6.8 kilograms.

The owner's name, "KIYOSHIRO," was painted in roman letters on the frame.

I'm guessing the victim only protected his 1.6-million-yen investment with a 500 yen chain. :shake:

A 1.6 million yen bicycle! Why would anyone, let alone a guy in his late middle ages NEED a bike that expensive. I doubt he is about to do trail biking or racing anytime soon.

Maybe the bike was only worth 30,000 yen but the drugs hidden in the frame were worth another 1,570,000 yen ! :?:

That'll learn him to better take care of his bike next time.

For a starter, you don't park your bike outside. Not only will the chains and the frame (even with aluminum or titanium) rust, you can get it stolen easily as it was the case. It doesn't take a whole lot to break a lock or cut the chain. Not that I would know..

Even though my GT mb bike is probably worth a couple hundred dollars and not in the thousands, I still have it inside my apartment auto-lock and on my floor just in case.

While I guess Ferrari do help you score with chicks (not that any of us will ever know) bicycles only attract the type of girls who like guys who sweat profusely. :)

For that kind of money, it should be a tandem bike with a naked supermodel up front doing all the pedaling.

The bike has his name written all over it. What a douche bag.
Anyone who gets seen riding it will definitely get caught.

Also, the J police pigs love to stop you when you're riding a bike for no reason at all and they'll certainly run the license tag through their database to see if it is ever stolen.

I used to know this Australian bloke that would literally take a new bike home every night. He'd try to return them but happenstance dictated otherwise, and when I visited his flat once he had like 5 bikes stashed in the bushes. It was wrong, but he was a loser, and his actions suited his character. :P

No points for guessing why Charles was the first person to notice that the seat could be removed. Charles likes his bikes that way.

Not personally, but Dark Melvin has...something he would prefer to keep quiet since he got Google to remove his original drunken admission. Here however, is a salvaged copy, found on the arch-enemy Baker site :-)

I used to have a really nice racing bike with a stupid quick-release clamp on the seat post. Someone swiped the seat.

At least the thief was nice enough to have it from getting stolen again by putting on a lock.

Or maybe Kiyoshiro parked it there one night drunk but didn't remember.

Yes indeed. Here is an extract from the very wonderful O'Reilly tome "Google Hacks":-

Google and to remove it after the fact.
100.3.1 Preventing your material from being archived
To prevent your material from being archived on Google, add the following line to the headers of
your Usenet posts:
X-No-Archive: yes
If you do not have the options to edit the headers of your post, make that line the first line in your
post itself.
100.3.2 Removing materials after the fact
If you want materials removed after the fact, you have a couple of options:

Stars and Stripes: Sailor accused of stealing bike still in Japanese custody
A U.S. Navy sailor accused of stealing a bike in Yokohama last weekend remained in Japanese custody Wednesday. Petty Officer 3rd Class Richard Joseph Jarry, 25, was arrested in Yokohama on Sunday after allegedly taking a bicycle around 10:30 a.m. from a convenience store parking lot, a Kanagawa Prefectural Police spokesman said Wednesday. Jarry, assigned to the USS John S. McCain in Yokosuka, is accused of grabbing the bike and riding away, the spokesman said, then abandoning it and running after realizing the bike's owner had seen him. The owner called the police, who later found Jarry near the convenience store. Jarry voluntarily went with police for questioning at the Kanazawa Police Station. He was arrested after the bike's owner, a 17-year old student, identified him, police said. A Kanazawa police spokesman said he didn't know if alcohol was a factor but added that he heard Jarry was lost and couldn't find his way home. The spokesman said he also didn't know if Jarry lived in Yokohama or at Yokosuka Naval Base...more...

Nope, you haven't quite got it. You have to highlight the one word that explains the whole ludicrous story. Stealing a bike is hardly surprising, and the nationality of the thief is no explanation for the behavior.

Let me show you how it's done.

Australian charged after baby placed in dryer

A 21-year-old Australian man has been arrested after police say he put his girlfriend's baby into a clothes dryer. Det. Sr. Const. Deb Newman said the 14-month-old girl was left inside the machine for about two minutes. She suffered serious burns to both feet and her left hand, as well as bruises to her forehead and back. "The injuries are horrific,"Newman said. "In my years of being a police officer, I've not seen or heard of this type of injury before."
The incident occurred last Thursday while Samuel Barnes-Siddall was babysitting the child at her home in Warwick while her mother was at the gym. Police allege that when the girl's clothing got wet, Barnes-Siddall placed her in the dryer, closed the door and turned it on.
The child is now in hospital, Newman said.
Barnes-Siddall was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm. He was granted bail of $4,200 and ordered to reappear in court at the end of next month. He has been ordered not to contact the child or her mother.

LOL...never stole a bike in Japan (I haven't been drunk enough yet I guess) but one day a strap of my backpack snagged a bike bell while I was walking by and completely obliterated it. I picked up the bits and pieces and desperately tried to put it back together but I gave up after 10 minutes and just placed the sad remains of the bell into the front basket.

Will I get bad karma for this??

A quick perusal of http://fark.com will show real genius at being an idiot in the US. Usually half a dozen to 10 stories a day with "dumbass" or "florida" tags.

That is not true Charles. It's just that they don't have those new washer/drier combination machines there yet! So he had to make do with what he had! Used to toss some of mine in on fluff every once in a while just to get their attention.

I think we are lucky to jsut be getting power, running water is next week..

I used to fix microwaves for a living and once went to an "outside service call" (where you go to someones house to fix things) to "repair" a microwave that the owners 4 year old had put the pedigree long hair cat in to dry it out after he had accidentally let it outside in the wet grass.. He had seen his mother dry a wet cloth in the microwave in a similar fashion so he gave it a try while his mother was out the front talking to a neighbour. The smell was pretty intense, the inside of the microwave was nothing short of gory artwork...

Australians are the lowest common denominator, if someone can screw it up, get it completely wrong or use something outside of it's intended pupose, it is the Aussies!!!!
