That's pretty wild because the Japanese event has always been popular and you'd think they could find a sponsor. I've been to the contest a few times and had a blast.

Like skiing, surfing in Japan is decline because of the decline of the number of healthy young people in Japan who aren't either glued to their keitai or sleeping in their free time.
