Nth Korea chuck another missile near Japan

Postby gomichild » Wed Jul 05, 2006 5:13 am

At 3:32 am this morning they sent a missile into the Sea of Japan.

It is not known whether it was a Taepodong-2 type missile at this stage.

Great.. On my way to South Korea today.. This should be interesting.

What a surprise; who would've thought North Korea to have more advanced WMDs than Iraq?..
Former President Bill Clinton says he agrees with the Bush administration's fight against terrorism. But, he said it's North Korea, not Iraq, that poses the biggest threat with its weapons of mass destruction... - April 14, 2003 - http://news.minnesota.publicradio.org/features/2003/04/14_helmsm_clinton/
Oh, that's right..

North Korea launched a long-range Taepodong-2 missile early Wednesday in an apparently unsuccessful test that failed in flight, a senior State Department official said.

North Korea also tested at least two smaller missiles, U.S. sources told CNN.

Both missiles were launched from a site other than the one intelligence officials have watched for weeks ahead of the long-range missile test, a senior State Department official said..

It's just that I'm paying very close attention to the situation since I'll be landing in Seoul later today.. I'm not sure what gives me more concern; dipshit Kim's nuclear Dongs, or knee-jerk Bush's apocalyptic reaction..

Just think of it as a greeting.:D If you are lucky and haven't changed your money yet you might even be able to profit from it as the value of the South Korean won is sure to drop when the markets open.

The Korean ICBM which would possibly hit America but has failed, only 5 nations have this superpower, the ability to turn any part of the globe to ratioactive dust with long range missiles
Russians, USA, Chinese, and European former colonial superpowers ( British and French frogs ) that's why they are the globe's most feared forces
Pakistan and India also have Nukes but lack long range missiles and have no long range aircraft

Image
The audacious military test _ which included two shorter range missiles _ came despite stern warnings from the United States and Japan. The isolated communist nation carried out the tests as the U.S. celebrated the Fourth of July holiday and launched the space shuttle Discovery.

"We are urgently consulting with members of the Security Council," said John Bolton, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

None of the three missiles made it as far as Japan. The Japanese government said all landed in the Sea of Japan between Japan and the Korean Peninsula.

"It is a provocation," said a senior administration official, who spoke only on condition of anonymity.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/world/4024305.html
White House Press Secretary Tony Snow, told reporters, "The North Koreans have again clearly isolated themselves."

The State Department said initial intelligence indicates that the two smaller missiles were a Scud and a Rodong. The Scuds are short-range and could target South Korea. The Rodong has a range of about 620 miles and could target Japan.

North Korea has test-fired a number of missiles - one of which was a long-range weapon which failed seconds into flight, US officials have said.

The Taepodong-2 weapon, thought to be capable of reaching the US, failed about 40 seconds after it was launched.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/5148648.stm?ls
The US said North Korea may have fired as many as six missiles. At least three - two of them said to be shorter range - fell into the Sea of Japan.

Well, before you only had to worry about catching something in the wonderful ROK for it to fall off; now all you have to worry about is whether or not, it will get blown off (which in Korea is always highly possible)!

I was on a flight from Fukuoka - Seoul a few years ago. We just started to roll back from the gate and suddenly stopped,,, for about 10 minutes then the captain came on and announced that N. Korea had just launched a missile over the sea of Japan. :eek2:
We sat there for anout another 20 minutes until the all clear was given.

Hope Japan cuts off food aide and puts economic sanctions on NK. Ban that ship that pulls into Niigata too.

Either Kim Jong Mentally Ill really went insane or some people are suspecting that N.K. is having some kind of internal turmoil of power. Either way, N.K. is really screwing themselves up with the PR with the rest of the world.

Especially the Japanese who are unable to successfully launch missles at that high percentage rate! They just beat the H-1 and H-2 rate for the last ten years in one day!

Coincides with the Space Shuttle launch. It's also GW's b-day this week, so maybe GW sees this as the greatest present he ever could have received. Gotta load up on iodine.
