Damn - do you guys really think that all women are crazy? I thought I was pretty normal - a few eccentricities I will admit to..

There are also lots of my friends who have J-boyfriends or husbands. They seem pretty happy.

yup.

well yeah, it's all relative. but if you're normal realtive to other women, say for example, my wife, then from a male frame of reference, that still equals fucking nuts.

GomiGirl wrote:- a few eccentricities I will admit to..

:D do go on, and feel free to admit them here :))

that's cause men the world over are pretty much the same too and not too hard to figure out. honestly, i'd say there's far more differences between the sexes than there is between members of the same sex in different cultures.

On the J-side there, you might want to also consider, anything with a "brand name"!

GG, a woman once told me that women are only sane for two week out of the month.
The other two weeks are either ramping up or coming down off of a period.

Then she was lying to you. Perhaps she was insane herself... Sure periods are not pleasant but you get used to them and they certainly don't affect me or the people around me adversely.

GG, maybe you are the exception to the rule, but my experiences with women tell me that she was telling the truth.

Also, I believe the hormone shift is more pronounced in women that have had children.

Believe what you what if it makes you feel better but some women are just bitches who blame periods for bad behaviour. Or maybe you are just interpreting moods wrongly. If a woman has emotions people put it down to moody/emotional/hormonal behaviour.. men are called colourful or eccentric. ;)

I know some fairly moody guys...

I think male semen somehow infects women, they all seem nice and rather un-crazy until sperm is inserted, after that is is only a matter of time to see how fast and far the infection spreads until they become the crazy bitches that we end up married too... it also seems the disease is especially afftected by your proximity to them, thus they seem relatively normal to others when you are not around

Damn, you guys are hangin' out with the wrooong chicks.. I've only dated a couple freaky chicks.. And that's because I probably wanted to; what appealed to me at first ended up being one of their 'psycho' traits.. It's human nature..

Oh, what a tangled web we weave. ;)

I suppose that at the beginning we miss the warning signs due to the desire for coitus blocking normal analytical function. Hoping for some sort of substantial relationship with a chick that was wearing a Charlie Manson t-shirt when you first met her may be wishful thinking.

Pssst... it's not rocket science to get laid here if you are a gaijin (of any race except "other Asians") or you don't tell them that you teach English for a living.

actually I've been here a few months and I was starting to get the impression that this was just a myth (like computer viruses)...

btw, what's wrong with telling them you teach english for a living? don't all gaijin teach english??

Because teaching engrish at nova, berlitz, whatever is a dime a dozen job here. Though, if you play your cards right, you can tell trick the J girls into thinking that you can "teach engrish" and score dates with them that ultimately equate to a lay.

Gaijin fall into a few categories:

1. English teacher working for someone else

2. Self employed (maybe English school, maybe some other business)

3. Hired in Japan (aka local hire) for a non-English teaching position

4. Brought into Japan by a company on a package

5. Other (military, diplomat, etc)

#1 is the worst situation as the pay is horrible and the jobs often range from "horrible-shit-hole" on the bad side to "not-intellectually-stimulating" on the good. Financially speaking you need at least 400,000yen a month (after taxes) to live comfortably in a Japanese city. That is a starting point, hopefully bonuses and a higher salary are possible. Pre-tax 250,000yen month for an English teacher does not cut it. With a family it would be very difficult indeed.

#2 & 3 are fairly self-explanatory and are common among long-term ex-pats.

#4 is a great situation. Your employer outside Japan wants you to move to Japan. Because of this they set you up with a car, house, kids schooling, etc, all at the same level as you had at home. You also usually get extra salary due to the overseas posting. People on packages are very well paid indeed.

#5 is self-explanatory
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Hey Lurk,

What class do those of us perverts such as Taro and I, that are here on a Rape, Pillage and Plunder Visa, belong?

The other members of the board have some classified point of reference (which is used only on immigrations forms), which projects the perception that they are actually employed. The truth is that most FG members get physically sick and tend to wretch when someone mentions manual labor in front of them, or really gets gross by suggesting they get a job.

G-man,

I think the politically correct name for that is now the "Canola, Pillage and Plunder Visa".

Maybe if some Japanese girl is looking for a well-off gaijin to shack up with/escape Japan with shes not going to be turned on by the english teacher thing. But from what i have observed in Roppongi and the like, just being a gaijin is generally enough to get laid by a fairly goodlooking japanese girl. They are rather too easily impressed those girls....

Come to think of it, of all the gaijins I have met in my stay in Japan so far, I have met exactly 1 English teacher. Everyone else was an entrepreneur, banker, engineer, financial analyst, ex-patent examiner etc.etc.
