Yeah dude. I just dropped $300 into a gouged up rear bumper, straight from a japanese salvage parts importer. There's quite a bit of money to be made with that (importing).

I was in the Philly/NY racing scene for a few years (Mazda RX-7 FC3S w/ J-Spec swap and a ton of work.)

I am DEFINITELY gonna set up and EBay store once I get situated in Japan. I already have friends asking for shit ahead of time, and people post on the RX-7 forums about J-parts ALL the time (Especially RE Amemiya, I've heard of people dropping 20k for the RE2000 kit.)

I would love to get into something like that. I go nuts on JDM car parts, and there's so much money to be made bringing it over. I like all aspects of it, from taking parts off cars in japan to identifying and selling, to installing.

I'm halfway through an Associates in Automotive Technology degree, but I don't see it getting me too far.

For anyone on a student visa thinking of making some money on ebay, it's worth noting this story:

Mainichi: Chinese student arrested after making 150 million yen selling items for online RPG
A university student from China has been arrested for illegally engaging in business activities outside the restrictions of his student visa, police said. Wang Yue Si, 23, came to Japan on a student visa in April 2004. He started selling items such as weapons and currency for online games through an Internet auction site in April this year, without obtaining the appropriate residency status. Wang, living in Kumamoto, has admitted that he sold the virtual goods for about 6 million yen, in violation of the Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Law. A bank worker became suspicious when Wang regularly sent money back home to China and alerted police in August, prompting Kumamoto police officers to investigate the student. Police suspect that Wang has sold a total of 150 million yen in virtual items and sent more than 100 million yen to China.

Yo, just a little low down on this. While you can make money on doing this, I used to do it, its a pain in the butt. I used to sell a lot of coilovers and some other parts that I picked up here and there. The thing is, you have a lot of work on just one part. You will get tons of questions and have to carry parts around on the train. It just isn't that great of a deal when you can just teach English for more money thats easier to make. I was a student and it worked out ok to pull in 200-500$ here and there, but you can do the same thing teaching english on the side in a cafe. I still hook my friends up back home when they need stuff. But I will never sell car parts again, its just to much of a pain
