I had the same pair of red, white and blue Tigers.
Next to my low top gold suede Converse All-Stars, they were my fave 70's teen tennies.
Wonder how much THESE go for on e-bay? Pretty kick ass kicks, no?

I watched this video and wondered if it was some derogatory thing about burakumin. Then I noticed something and I decided the video was either overtly racist, or worse, unintentionally revealing of deeply held racist attitudes towards the Japanese. What was it that I noticed?
The narrator's ozzie accent. This was an ozzie production.

But did you really not get the comedic nature of the video? Did you really mistake it for racism? Tell me you're not so blunt.

Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

Sure it's intended as humor. But "those wacky Japanese" humor bits often cross the line into racism. I think this does.
