Slaughter: Horror at Sony's depraved promotion stunt with decapitated goat

Electronics giant Sony has sparked a major row over animal cruelty and the ethics of the computer industry by using a freshly slaughtered goat to promote a violent video game.
The corpse of the decapitated animal was the centrepiece of a party to celebrate the launch of the God Of War II game for the company's PlayStation 2 console.
....At the event, guests competed to see who could eat the most offal procured elsewhere and intended to resemble the goat's intestines from its stomach. They also threw knives at targets and pulled live snakes from a pit with their bare hands. Topless girls added to the louche atmosphere by dipping grapes into guests' mouths, while a male model portraying Kratos, the game's warrior hero, handed out garlands....
We have reproduced the spread --- headlined Sony's Greek Orgy --- here, but have pixellated the image to spare readers the sight of the goat's decapitated head hanging by a thread of tissue from its corpse, with blood dripping to the floor...more...

That sounds like a great party. And the games looks pretty cool too. Almost makes me want to start playing video games again for the first time since high school.

What purported to be warm intestines was actually warm offal.


While this story could be true, it does seem to have a fair number of bullshit indicators, such as the quote above...somehow I don't see the daily mail being that precise that they would make a distinction between intestines and offal (which can include intestines but also other internal organs). While I realize folks in the UK are not as paranoid about liability lawsuits as US people, I somehow doubt any event would encourage handling offal and snakes in an party environment, given high possibility of making people sick via touching contaminated items and then eating and drinking.

But the biggest flag is that they are "sourcing" the image from a Sony's Official Playstation magazine. That means this event must have happened several weeks ago if, as the piece states, the magazine is already being mailed out (since editorial and printing takes a fair bit of time in the print world). If it happened several weeks ago, the odds are this would have leaked out before now, since these kinds of events 99% of the time are held for the benefit of the press.. Also, I somehow question that kind of image would have passed through editorial without someone pointing out that it might not be a good image to use, esp in the animal rights activist infested UK. And the piece quotes several people by name but no one from Sony by name. So it could be true but I'd like to see something directly from Sony concerning this before I'd buy into it.

I think it has gotten to the point where there is nothing too terrible that anyone could say about b-a-a--a-a-ad Sony. Anything is believable.

Fox News also carried that sheep story as well as fact, even though we've sorted it out and found out it was a flock of shit.
