"I later learned the military were under orders to capture some B-29 personnel for interrogation purposes. I was tied and thrown into a coal truck and taken to a briefing room at a fighter base where the beatings continued. From there I was taken to Kempei Tai, the Japanese federal torture prison adjacent to the northern perimeter of the Imperial Palace grounds in downtown Tokyo, and placed in a cold, dark horse stall. This ordeal included 67 days of solitary confinement, torture and two days on display locked in an animal cage at the Ueno Zoo. In April, I was transferred on a truck from my public exhibit cage in the zoo to the Omori prisoner-of-war camp on the southwest edge of Tokyo. During the trip, even though I was always blindfolded, I could see the almost total devastation caused by the B-29 fire raids throughout Tokyo. At Omori there were other American prisoners and all were forbidden to speak or pass notes."

I have pet J-girls. Time to turn those tables, if you have a problem being a pet, be the master.

Does this mean the girls were subject to petting or that they were your pets?

I would have to go with the latter, as they do occasionally require feeding etc.

I must admit there were many occasions I felt like the pet Gaijin. I remember one time in particular when I was commanded by my Host Father to stay home, (I had plans to meet up with my GF of the time) so when my Host Sisters' friend came over she could see me. What can I say, I felt like a pet.

Japanese firms gone barking mad? Employees offered 'pet perks'

I wonder if the "owners" of "pet gaijin" qualify for this allowance?

I took the liberty of substituting "gaijin" for "pet", etc. in the original article, and it seems to retain a certain believability. See what you think:

MDN's Marvin-san (with some words altered) wrote:
. . . More and more Japanese firms are now offering their employees allowances or various other perks if they own gaijin, which an increasing number of organizations are beginning to recognize as legitimate members of families.

Starting from December, Kyoritsu Seiyaku Corp., a pharmaceutical company that manufactures a gaijin vaccine, will give every one of its employees owning a gaijin a monthly "gaijin dependency allowance" of 1,000 yen.

"We want the gaijin allowance to encourage employees to have a sense of duty and responsibility whenever they buy a gaijin," a spokesman tells Sunday Mainichi.

Kyoritsu has plans to make the system even better, with some of the ideas being slated including a 12,000 yen reward for anybody who agrees to adopt a stray [gaijin].

Gaijin food manufacturer Hills Colgate (Japan) was one of the earliest companies to reward employees for caring for their gaijin, implementing a gaijin condolence system back in 2005. Any worker buying a gaijin receives a reward of 10,000 yen for each gaijin they own, then another 10,000 yen in condolence money if the gaijin passes away. The company president will also send a condolence telegram and the worker is entitled to take a day's leave to grieve for their dearly departed gaijin.

"Our company sincerely believes in the concept of people and gaijin living harmoniously together," a Hills Colgate (Japan) spokesman tells Sunday Mainichi. "We'd be delighted to see other companies follow suit."

It wasn't too long ago when anybody taking time off work at a Japanese company to care for a gaijin would have been laughed out of the office. But clearly things are changing, as the Kyoritsu spokesman elaborates.

"Some people may think we're going a bit far, but from now on we're going to see a drastic increase in the number of services for gaijin, like care for elderly gaijin and the like, to bring them into line with the type of handling humans receive," the spokesman says.

About 18 percent of current Kyoritsu employees own a gaijin . . .

More may appear.

"By creating an environment where gaijin and people can live together," a Kyoritsu employee tells Sunday Mainichi, "it's going to give employees incredible motivation for their work."

. . . more

Had that happen a fair bit when I was living in Hamamatsu. At least being the pet gaijin of a bar meant lots of free drinks and drunk women.

I made it pretty clear to my wife back when we were dating that I wasn't going to put up with being a fashion accessory, and I think we grew to respect each other a lot more because of it. I still remember a conversation I had at (not with) one of her friends, though:

Her (to my gf): So where is he from?
Me (in Japanese): America.
Her (still looking straight at my gf): How old is he?
Me (still in Japanese): I'm 26. (this was a looong time ago)
Her (still locked on to my gf): How long has he been in Japan?
Me (still pushing on in Japanese, and trying to lean into her field of view): About three years.
Her (still talking directly to my gf, never once having acknowledged that I'm talking to her): He speaks Japanese really well.

I don't think that even rates as a pet. If I were a dog she'd be talking right to me.
I have a blog. Last update: August 18, 2013.

Now that is a confused chick that I'd like to meet. Maybe, it's teh country side and high exposure to something that causes neural rot, but I havent gotten the "life-sized plastic manuquin" treatment, except for a girl warning my ex to watch out as I looked like I was motemote. That made my year.

Did you do the girl who warned your ex? That's normally taken as a compliment to the gf/wifie, but of all the compliments available, that particular one always seems to come the gals that have a high interest in johnsons and their usage, proper or otherwise!

Girl was kinda...hideous to look at (look, I'm just being honest), and really needed a good orthodontist, but she lectured my ex for at least 15 minutes about the high odds of my straying. I figured the shark was just bitter. Same ex's mom would also lay into her own daughter, "Why does he like you, he graduated college and knows all sorts of things, and you barely graduated high school?"
Perhaps this explains why the marriage lasted as long as it did.
Ok, I'm off to the toilet, friend gave me a roll of some black toilet paper he got at LOFT, and I'm curious as to whether I can figure out easily when I'm done wiping.
