Ta for the review on the Shinjuku property GG...I've been a big fan of Oakwood's..although, based on my experience, availability can be a bit hit or miss, esp. for short term stays (say 1-2 weeks)...but that said, the rates can often be quite reasonable (and lower than the stated 1 month minimum stay prices on their website) if they have rooms to fill. A few years back, I had 5 night stay in a one bedroom suite in Aoyama that was around the same daily rate of a single in Shibuya Excel Tokyu.

Asakusa is on the other side of the city to Shinjuku. Like a LONG way away.

And what do you want to know about kabukicho? I know a good bar near there!!!

Akasaka Excel?? I would have chosen the Granville instead - or for just slightly more upgraded to the New Otani (they have a summer special going on) The pool can't be beat! Why Kabukicho?? There's basically nothing there for newbies - these guys sounds more like Pongi-style than anything. At least they're in walking distance to the zone. Oh - and there's a korean prostrate massage place right across from their hotel -- i'm sure they'll enjoy that!
