can anything legally be done to help?

Postby kotatsuneko » Mon Apr 14, 2003 9:58 pm

as i`m new here, i dont know the situation regarding the legal process, so would appreciate some advice, i have sued a couple of firms in london with success but am not clear what can be done

heres the problem:

my wife recently went to a dentist in downtown sapporo, he removed a tooth, placed a temporary one in place and told her to wait for a month

she went back, and they had a replacement tooth, but on trying to fit i, the dental nurse poked around but couldnt fit it, and hurt my wifes gum

the dentist asked her to come back after a few days which she did

he messed around a bit, then put the replacement tooth in, but at the back of the tooth, put all this black stuff, which you normally see on the back of a row of fake teeth, not only on the replacement tooth, but 2 others as well and seemed to use too much force also

since then, she has a recurring pain in her shoulder, the tooth doesnt feel right and the black stuff is affecting her eating

i have asked her to confront the dentist but she seems set on seeing another one to look at it instead..

i don`t know why she is being reticent, as in the past she has taken on a yakuza run landlord and won..

any ideas on what can be practically done? i just want to see her get the right treatment ..

Just go find a new dentist... Kamakura is a long way from Sapporo, but my wife's dentist did an excellent job.

i really want her to sort things out as the longer things are left the worse they can get i feel.

thank you also for taking the time to write the terms also, that was very kind and will prove very helpful

To be a dentist in Japanese is to be a FRAUD.

All fine advice from Steve...
Another magic phrase is, Soko nantoka. (See it from my way.)

REMEMBER: To be a dentist in Japan is to be a FRAUD.
Yes, 101% of Japanese dentists commit fraud in billing for Japanese health insurance (which is the reason you have make so many trips to Japanese dentists since they bill per visit, whether or not they do anything).

yeh i read about that and experienced it myself, is it cos they can only bill a certain amount per session from the govt so they make u come several times to bump it up? i had to make 3 trips which was annoying but they did a great job..

i have heard also that you should avoid crossing appointments over from one month to the next as that incurrs a different charge/circumstance or something on the health insurance so costs more, so you should start treatment at the start of the month

again, thanks for the advice given here!
