Why dont you just buy one direct from Hong Kong? Anyway - you can pick these up in the shops around Shin Okubo no problem. Samsung is one of the easiest phones to unlock. Or just try e-bay...

I've run into a couple of deadbeat sellers on eBay. You can leave negative feedback, but of course they'll retaliate. Alas, you can't really compel them to sell an item short of expensive litigation.

unfucking real. so i write up a polite message asking the seller what the deal is, and what happens?->

"どして、私のビッドを取り消して、あなたのオークションからの私を禁止するか? 私はYahoo!プレミアム会員登録されています。それも、Yahooのオークションで携帯を買ったことがあります。 この携帯本当に買いたいんですから、お願いします。"

reply (doesn't even get it):

この出品者のオークションへの質問はできません。 詳しくはヘルプページをご覧ください。

what a fucking asshole. he won't let even let me bid any of his other auctions. what a fucking racist dick. why bother saying "ship internationally" if you don't intend to?

buying the damn phone on ebay yields a $100 markup at least, and my wife is set on the red one - which is rare enough to come by.

You have zero feedback. A lot of sellers won't sell to someone with zero feedback because new buyers create far more problems than people with experience.

Does that suck? Yes, for sure. Everyone has to start somewhere, but bigger sellers have learned from experience and they don't want the headaches.

Yahoo also has a rule that says you must be able to read and write Japanese fluently to be able to use Yahoo Auctions. If you post a message to the seller and he feels your Japanese is not good enough, he can cancel your bids and/or block you. I suggest getting your wife to write to the guy instead using proper keigo. It will work wonders.

By the time you manage to buy this phone, she'll want some other newer, more fashionable, more expensive model.

Right on Chas and the latter is usually the first on the list!

exactly. he just blocked me. i never got anything from him besides some autogenerated response. that's what's pissing me off.

frustrating thing is that i have used yahoo auctions before, including my last phone. just never get any feedback. and then clowns like this pull some superiority trip. i don't know - maybe he thinks i'm one these chinese resellers or something. or maybe he's just a dickhead.

i've never had this kind of issue on ebay - if the seller is weary of my status, i can at least email him. this prick is acting like an adolescent Myspace jerk off blocking me.

the one she really wants is the sharp 705 but softbank (or sharp?) has some sort of inferiority complex or are just plain stupid and won't allow or sell japanese capable phones abroad. only that kddi startup here in the states sells something domestically, and their phones won't even work if she flys to japan, not to mention are ass ugly and internationally retarded.

i'm just pissed off because i don't understand why it is so fucking hard to find a decent phone that has japanese on it.

I can kind of understand your frustration but you might not know that there are a lot of whacko types on Yahoo Auction. The Boy and his Bro sell a lot of stuff, as does another friend - and sometimes people with no feedback come along and just try to destroy your rep. Sounds stupid and childish but there you go. Maybe this person has had trouble in the past and just blocks anyone they think is a bit dodgy.

Did you leave feedback for the sellers? Most won't leave feedback for you until you leave it for them.

If you really want feedback it is best to ask for it (after leaving some for them of course). If they still refuse to give you feedback you can change the feedback you left them to a negative with a comment about how they don't leave feedback for their buyers.

Yahoo works quite well but it is very different to eBay. Once you've gotten used to the differences it's fine.

The real translation is:
It cannot ask to the auction of this exhibition person. As for details please read the help page.

So the point is that the guy is an exhibitionist. I think you were probably spot on.

I'd just move on. You have obviously made some assumptions about the seller, that could or could not be accurate.

I would instead find another seller offering what you are interested in. Keep your stress level low and don't let little measly shit like this get to you.
