Position Title: Bilingual Japanese/English Assets Coordinator

We are looking for an Assets Coordinator to join our Publishing team!
SUMMARY
Requests and manages digital art assets for book production, primarily
sourced from Japanese licensors in addition to conducting publishing
acquisitions research.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
1. Coordinates, fulfills, and tracks artwork requests.
2. Assists in building an efficient file acquisition system within
the office so that a high level of communication is maintained within the
publishing department and licensors.
3. Catalogues, files, and maintains the companyis collection and
archive of digital images, including DVDs, transparencies, and art books.
4. Proactively assesses ways to improve organization of archives.
5. Creates and maintains detailed database records.
6. Assists with organization and maintenance of digital and art
assets.
7. Assists designers in photo researching, scanning, and
refining artwork utilizing Photoshop skills.
8. Performs acquisitions-related research.
In addition to these typical duties, may perform other duties as assigned
and required.
MINIMUM ABILITY, SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to fluently read, write and speak in both English and
Japanese is A MUST.
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Acrobat in Mac OSX
platform a MUST.
- Working familiarity with digital assets, file nomenclature, and
workflow.
- Skill with Internet, MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and
other Mac software.
- Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced
environment.
- Ability to work independently and balance multiple projects.
- MUST possess a sharp eye for detail.
- Knowledge of editorial/publishing industry a plus.
- Knowledge of consumer entertainment such as anime, manga, and
related merchandise and some exposure to entertainment media (comic, book,
video) a plus.
- Ability to work effectively in a small organization with an
emphasis on teamwork.
- Ability to interact with culturally diverse clients, service
providers, and staff.
- Ability to work legally in the United States.
- Ability to live in/commute to the SF Bay Area.
MINIMUM PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND EDUCATION
- 1-2 years of practical business experience.
- Graphic design or production experience a PLUS.
- Equivalent of Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or
university, or equivalent, with a record that demonstrates suitable
preparation for this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not supervise the work of others.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Primarily works in an office environment, requiring the
following activity: lifting and carrying materials, weighing up to 20
pounds, kneeling, bending. Approximately 70 percent of time spent on
the job involves use of a video display terminal. Must be able to
sit for extended periods and to utilize standard ergonomics practices.
Must be able to use or learn to use standard office equipment
such as copiers, faxes, mailing machines and other related machinery.
As part of a multi-media entertainment company, employees may be
subjected to work-related images including content such as: sexually
explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence. Employees should be
willing to work with this type of content. VIZ Media does not
condone the viewing of this content where not work-related.
OTHER INFORMATION
Employees must adhere to all applicable VIZ Media policies
and procedures. Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Willingness and ability to work non-standard business hours, such as
nights, on an as-needed basis is required. Employees must be able to
cope effectively with deadlines and multiple demands.
