[floatr][/floatr]The Asahi reports (Japanese) that Nissin Foods plans to replace styrofoam containers with a coated paper "Eco cup" for its Cup Noodle brand from April. It is the first time the company has changed the packaging since they launched instant noodles in 1971 and they hope the measure will help reduce carbon emissions. Nissin will still use styrofoam, which is designated as unburnable gomi by some wards in Japan, for mini-sized cups and non-standard container shapes like the U.F.O brand but will consider switching those in the future too.

I'm actually waiting for the styrofoam flavored noodles to be released.
