G-Man, its not that I cant admit we have some people that play baseball in Australia. its just that, as a general rule, they are the uncordinated, soft, fags that couldn't get picked for their Aussie Rules or Rugby team at school. They simply aint worth taking seriously.

Oh, I already thought you were an Aussie. But if you're an ex-rugby player, I didn't want to assume you knew where Canberra was. :p

Check back after about two months and I will tell ya.

BTW, great owner the O's have. Saw an ad for Peter Angelos on TV last night. Some ambulance chasing deal. Can't deny his baseball acumen. I feel for ya man. I hope Jones pans out and the Mariner's have always been known for great trades -- NOT.

90% of all M's fans would like the see Mariners' GM Bill Bavasi shown the door but he has put together a promising starting rotation this year. Time will tell.

What a crock

Postby canman » Wed Mar 26, 2008 12:13 am

First off, couldn't NTV have provided the US play by play for tonights game? Secondly, with a man on second in the top of the tenth, the cut the game short to go to some stupid comedy show. That is why Japanese sports tv is crap.
On a side note, I wonder how much money Houston Street was paid to throw that game. Just a conspiracy theory I was thinking of when that homerun left the park.

I just laughed when I saw that NTV had allotted 3 hours 24 minutes for the game--the average length of an MLB game is close to 3 hours. And I'd be surprised if the average length of a Red Sox game weren't longer than that.

lol
Actually, that kid is a rookie and Street made a pretty good low pitch. He had to go way down on it to hit it with any authority. It was a helluva swing to get enough on that to get it into the stands. It did make for a good game and Okajima looked pretty good in his one inning for the win, especially comparing him to how shitty Matsuzaka looked with no control on his "Gyro Ball":p

Not sure.. But if they were at home, they could do laundry at the bottom of the ninth inning; they wouldn't miss anything because the broadcast would've stopped..

Yeah, they played Take Me Out to The BallPark.
Wish I had a ticket to the game as I would be one of the few Oakland fans rooting for my home team.
If Brown would have stopped at 2nd last night instead of trying to stretch it into a triple the A's could have won.

With the way Harden was throwing I thought maybe he was going to move the game along fast enough to where NTV was going to make it. But nope, their record is a perfect 6 for 6! What a disgrace.

Harden did look sharp, didn't he. But, having said that, don't tell Canman and Dimmer that he's from Kanukistan (or at least, I'll pretty sure he is), or we'll never hear the end of it!:p

Harden was very sharp from the start. Nine Ks this early in the season is not too shabby. His only mistake was that change-up to Manny.

Watch it on G+ cable as they show the whole game and no commercials. Turn down the sound though unless you want to hear the announcers felate the Red Sox for 9 innings.
I will give them credit though as they did take the cock out of their mouth and actually say Oakland may have a good team in the bottom of the 8th.
How many replays of Mannys' irrelevant home run vs. the game winner from Brown? Too many to count.

You're guess is as good as mine. I had the TV in the car on and since I don't have the safety wire grounded, I could only listen while I was driving. The announcer at one point, said in Japanese that after the next inning they would be playing ( then in English) "Take me out the Ball game", which he claimed is "apparently" an old American custom. So I'm not sure if he was Japanese, or not. Could have been one of Take's Koreans!

Japanese. Yesterday I watched on G+ (cable) but on Tuesday I watched most of the game on broacast TV (NTV?). It was the same on both channels.

Thanks for that Blah Pete. I wonder why they were SO pro-BoSox. I could understand if they were playing one of the AAAA teams like the Rays, Royals or (sigh) Orioles. But they were playing a real, bonafide MLB team in the A's.

But, you really have to search if you want to find the final score!

Nah, the Rays are better than the A's this year - and it isn't really close. Shields, Garza, and Kazmir (when he gets off the DL) should be very good at the front of the rotation. And Upton, Crawford, and Pena are going to score some runs. I don't think the A's have anyone even good enough on offense to match up with Iwamura and Longoria.

Teddy Ballgame! The Splendid Splinter! One of the greatest hitters to have ever played the game: 1st in career OBP and 2nd behind Ruth in career slugging and OPS. And not only did he miss what amounts to 4 1/2 seasons in his prime because of WW2 and the Korean War, but he asked the Red Sox to reduce his 1960 salary because he felt he'd had a bad 1959 season (Stan Musial did the same thing with the Cards in the same year). My favorite story about Williams is the time when he was at spring training with the Senators as manager and they were supposed to be practicing run downs; after 10 minutes, he turned to the players and said, "Fuck this, let's go hit!" (of course, that helps explain why he was never a very good manager--hitting's the only part of the game he ever really cared about).

Anyway, it's nice to hear there are people out there who still appreciate him.

Rich Harden

Postby canman » Thu Mar 27, 2008 7:21 pm

The pride of Victoria B.C.! Of course I knew he was Canadian. Did his best to go out there, throw a nice game, no fuss no muss. Like a typical Canadian. Just like his countrymate Patick Roy and his son Jonathan. If you don't know what I'm talking about check out You tube for the names.
The announcers were pretty awful, I know that Hasegawa, the former Angels and Mariners pitcher was one of them. At one point one of the other announcers asked him about eating peanut butter and jam sandwiches, at which point Hasegawa said that Japanese food was the best. Fuck you!!! Nothing beats peanut butter and jam man, nothing!!!! What are you going to counter with natto and rice, fuck you!!!!
