Either a relevant news item hasn't yet popped up or, more commonly, I've just forgotten about them. Anyway, I'm getting bored looking at them. Since there's no-one in the pictures, they don't suit the Random Nihonjin thread so this thread has become their dumping ground.

"Tsumaranai" means dull or boring. Said quickly, with a slight sneer, it can sound like "Sumanai" making this a bad place to live.

Can also be used as "excuse ~" or "pardon ~" which works to coming off as something like "forgive us for this place" or "inexcusable place", as if the name of the station is apologizing for the station/area.

And from the hundreds on my hard drive:

Don't feel like writing up explanations for all of them at the moment, if anyone has questions post and I will explain/translate.

It's just a dumb pun on Osugi and Pico, two flamboyantly gay celebrities. I think it shows more imagination than generally exercised/allowed in minimum wage employees here.

More in a similar vein:

I assume that's what they're hinting at too. I didn't realize the whole "prison rape" thing was that common in Japan.

by chance, has anybody seen the sign on the way up Mt Fuji between the shrine and the first station of the bear chasing a man?

I remember seeing it about three or four years ago, but forgot to take a photo.

There's nothing wrong with this poster but, when I first caught sight of it out of the corner of my eye, it seemed to me that the bloke was pleasuring himself while looking at porn. Clearly that's not the case and I would ask that you not think badly of my parents for the state of my mind.

Mulboyne, it's not just you. When I first saw this poster a week ago, my first thought was that somebody was going to photoshop it to show exactly the scene you imagined, and post it on FG. I would have done it myself if I had a little more time!
