I blame the internet.

All the world's muslims are now starting to find out that their religion isn't as venerated worldwide as once thought - and now they have to come to terms with it.

None of this would have happened without the internet. The internet only really took off in 1996- and since then we've heard of more fanatics coming out of the woodwork.

i used to be roman catholic but that was a very long time ago now (day of my confirmation is when i decided actually). to think that in the 2nd grade i wanted to become a priest..

the problem is, like christians, there are muslims of all persuasions, varying from the radical blow-myself-up-gimme-my-72-virgins-now (wonder if they realize the virgins are all the other young men that have blown themselves up) to moderates and "live and let live" types. it's the radicals of any religion that stir up shit and give everyone a bad name.

one does get sick of hearing about it though. if you don't want to live in the 21st century, fine, but don't bother those of us who do.

Just how many radical christians do you think exist? And what sort of death toll do you think they've amassed? Targeting of abortion clinics and doctors has killed what, 7 or so people since 1993? A month or two of roadside bombs or one nightclub/embassy bombing kills more than that, much less backdating the numbers to the 1990s.
Sure, Christian right-wingers have their media and protests a la Pat Robertson and Fred Phelps (idiot who protests about gays at military funerals) - Robertson got raked over the coals for intimating that dictators hostile to the US should be assasinated, but what about Sheik Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi, courtesy Al Jazeera, who calls Palestinian suicide bombing "divine justice"? I could spend several pages just listing Islamic religious leaders calling for violence against and murder of Christians, and I haven't even mentioned their take on the Jews.
So yes, fundamentalists do exist in various religions, but fundie Christians, Jews, and all the rest pale in comparison - in number, bloodlust, and total bodycount - to their Islamic counterparts.

The Inquisition = pure evil. No question.
Witch Trials = Also evil, but limited in scope to one particular region.

Christian radicals aren't looking for bomb parts so they can nuke an entire country.

ill just say two things that come to my mind:
1) this 'public outcry' is coming from the internet.. if you want to go see what the analogous thing would be, go look at what people get worked up over at that digg site..
2) it is pretty innacurate and irresponsible to say that fundamental islamists have caused significantly more death and destruction in the world.. the list ttjereth gave was a good start, but you also have to remember many people consider bush to be a fundamentalist, so you could really add the so-called secular wars in iraq and afghanistan to the list.

I agree. However if we limit our scope to the current situation, it is muslims that are creating a terrible lot of problems. I live in Denmark, and the amount of crap I have heard here from people regarding those cartoons of the prophet is amazing. Even though we have had leaders of the islamic community travelling to the middle east and Pakistan blatantly lying, to gather a political movement against free speech, embassies have been attacked, people have had demonstrations against free speech here in Denmark, and what not. Politically correct leftleaning fuckers keep protecting them, probably because they are afraid to be called racist if they criticise immigrants. The crusades were bad, but these days at least I won't get death threats from christians for drawing a cartoon of Jesus boning Mary while God is watching and having a wank.

The whole "playing catch up" argument is bullshit too. The actions of the Crusaders were typical of an invading army at that time. You can't really judge them by modern standards. It's now the 21st century and people have access to information in a way that they didn't before. They aren't playing catch up. They're ingnoring 1000 years of progress and choosing to be barbaric assholes.

Euro-American dudes have both superiority complex and inferiority complex against Arabian. It is the same as Japanese have a ambivalent attitude against China. But there is difference between the two that Japanese honestly recognize Japan had been taught by China meanwhile Europe are reluctant to recognize Europe had been taught by Arab or try to deny it.

On the other hand, the Arabs, like the Jews, are representatives of a monotheistic semitic culture speaking Hebrew or Arabic, a descendant of Aramaic.

Mohammad, a child-rapist (he banged his special lady Aisha when she was nine) borrowed a lot of the tropes of Judaism when he wrote whatever the fark it was that evolved into the Koran (he claimed that "Satan dictated" some of the words to him - the so-called "Satanic Verses"). The early Arab invaders of the Middle East benefited from the legacy of Greek scholarship. Iran had a great Zoroastrian culture; what are now Afghanistan and Pakistan flourished under Buddhist and Hindu culture, as did what is now Indonesia (Bali, still Hindu, is one of the few non-zombified places in Indonesia). Now all of these places are crushed under the dead hand of Arab imperialism, and memorizing the farking Koran is considered the acme of scholarly achievement. What a bloody waste.

By the way: Mohammad preached the need to kill "idol worshippers" (and Mohammadans are still doing just that in India, Bangladesh, and Thailand today). Did the Buddha or Jesus ever exhort followers to kill non-believers?

That is the "fact" that not many people know. Islam was built on killing those who were not believers in a massive scale. When you were converted to islam, you were given a sword to convert your friends and neighbours and if they refused you'd kill them. Islam is a fucked up religion and they can keep their fucking lifestyle to themselves. But give them an inch and they'll take a mile because under their religion, they have an obligation to kill non-believers.

Look at a map of islam on the Internet and you'll see how it spread from Arabia all the way to the Atlantic in North Africa and west to India and North to Russia. The spread stopped at major obstacles like oceans and mountain ranges.

What have fucking Islams invented in the last 800 years? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. They dress like idiots in white gowns and don't shave. Fucking repulsive people.

Man it feel good to be a biggot once in a while. Did I say, fuck Islam?

Then why did the "Arabian" as you call them execute that Japanese student for getting lost? Should he or his family respect them? They were nice enough to leave his head in the general area of his body so everyone could recognize him and the Japanese could honestly recognize what they were taught by them.
