Well, now that you mention it, the flower children guys really don't have a great track record overseas, or for that matter, at home either.

Do all the J-guys consider you weird as well?

It would appear that he's having it busted quite regularly, it's strange the police don't want to get in on the train....

Who? The albino Brady Bunch. Yep, they found them all. Because, like, the J-police are not retarded. At all.

About last months, I thought I saw a man looked like Ichihashi near my station (one of the nearest station to his apartment), I was going down the stairs from the train platform as he was going up on the escalator. After that I decided to go up the platform again to look carefully but this guy had gone way to the very very end, and seemed to be talking on the mobile(nobody was there except him and the whole platform wasn't crowded at all) I was with my son and I dare not went near him which I regretted until now. I did inform the koban immediately, the police called me a few times in the next few days to check some details, 2 weeks later they called me and tell me, this man did looked like him, but they have judged/ decided it was not him.

This man has a short front hair but a same length hair (slightly below ear) at the back. The hair looked a bit messy(bosa bosa). Definately not like the poster's pic that looked like he just came out from a hair saloon. A tall and very thin guy but I can't judge if it was 180cm. I think nobody can be 100% sure they have seen Ichihashi as we haven"t seen him in real life, and it is hard to stare at a person too long too, but if we ever suspect, we must inform the police.

You could always give him a nudge off the platform in front of the Southbound and the coroner could then find out for certain whether it was him, or some flatland tourist.....

I just did a quick look on the internet so I am not too sure if it's correct or not but a couple of years back, I think, the statute of limitations for murder in Japan was moved up to 25 years. It had been 15 years but the longer one only applies to murders committed after the change.
His [Brendan Behan's] last words were to several nuns standing over his bed, "God bless you, may your sons all be bishops."

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with you there, AO. Take is, IMHO, a pretty good barometer of the prevailing 2-Chan sentiment, which I suspect may contain a degree of, well, Ishihashi may a murderous psychopath, but he's our murderous psychopath, and we nihonjin have got to stand up to those uppity Brits.

Small, parochial countries tend to get that way about their crime-committing citizens. Some folks may remember the Louise Woodward case, where an English slag of a nanny was accused of being responsible for the death of the baby of a Massachusetts couple. During the trial in Boston, folks from Woodward's hometown cheered her on as if she were being maliciously persecuted by those mean bully Americans. She gave tearful interviews to Martin Bashir on the BBC and seemed to have a great deal of support in the Brit press, even though she was in all likelihood as guilty as OJ.

I'd say it's more a case of outsider vs. one of us.

With a fuckin mug like a horse how the hell could this guy disappear even in a city the size of Tokyo? Jesus christ that guy is busted up.

Judging from the brutality of the crime, it seems likely that this freek will do it again. It's just too heinous.

I forgot the statistics, but if a crime isn't solved within the first x amount of months isn't it likely that it never will? Poor girl.

As for Take, don't ban him, let's all just take him out for drinks one night near a deep river.

Of course, almost all Japanese hope this creepy Ichibashi to be arrested as soon as possible and never try to protect him. I just felt irritated a little bit with the tenor of this article(Brit's articles about Japan always make me irritated, though.).

http://www.japantoday.com/category/crime/view/slain-british-womans-father-back-in-japan-to-renew-public-appeal
The father of slain British woman Lindsay Hawker arrived Monday in Japan to renew his appeal for information that could lead to the arrest of a suspect. William Hawker told reporters upon arrival at Narita airport that he feels sorrow for having to still visit Japan 18 months after the incident.

He wore a T-shirt with the printed face of Tatsuya Ichihashi, 29, who is wanted on suspicion of abandoning the body of the woman in Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture in March last year.

This trip makes it his fourth visit to Japan since the death of his daughter.

During a stay of several days, he plans to visit officers at a Chiba police station where an investigative squad for the case is in place.

Come on, that is not fair. Sure we give the keystone cops here a blasting but this is a little too much.

I think they have just run out of ideas and are just hoping he has committed suicide so they can move onto to other things.

It highlights the lack of training that the police force have.

I believe the police do regard their failure to pick up Ichihashi as an embarrassment but it isn't uncommon for killers to go into hiding. There's a statute of limitations on murder in Japan so, if a suspect can evade police, they can escape the charge and the death penalty. There have been occasional examples of killers turning themselves in many years later and going away free. Most, however, have involved cases where it wasn't known that the victim had been murdered and so there had been no search for the culprit. There was, however, the famous case of Kazuko Fukuda who was arrested with only eleven hours left before she would have escaped free. She had remained hidden with a series of aliases and cosmetic surgery. There used to be only a 15 year limit but it was increased to 25 years so, if Ichihashi is still alive, he's going to have to keep his head down for a long time.
