Hokusai's Guide to Recycling

The Ministry of the Environment has produced a new booklet to promote recycling to coincide with the G8 Summit. Using images from ukiyoe artist Hokusai's famous prints, and with Hokusai himself appearing as a character, the 21 page pamphlet outlines Japan's recycling system and is available in a variety of languages. Copies will be distributed free at locations near the Summit in Hokkaido or will cost 300 yen to order from the Ministry.

That would be a good question. Obviously the manga could not hold a copyright over Hokusai.

But, Japan has some strange laws that way!

Our law, 2nd Copyright has the printing maker.
Most safe way, wait 50 years from printing time.
