I'm telling you Koizumi is coming back, just to win the election and then he will take off again. Who ws the most popular PM that Japan has had in the postwar period? Koizumi. Who was able to get some things passed, and cooperate with the opposition party? Koizumi. He would be a slam dunk to win the next election as Minshuto has no response to him.

He might. He's a heavy, hence his being maneuvered in to the Kanjicho position, which our people had read as clearing the way to dump Fukuda. Although Fukuda came in with experience(to a degree) and the pedigree they like so much, it was a stop gap with Abe's sudden case of the trots. Barring amazing results of any kind, he was never intended to be a long term PM.

Aso is the one who has been groomed. Whether you like him or not he's probably on track.

Ozawa will attempt to take control of the DPJ on the assumption they will win enough seats next election to make him PM. Given the fact that he has the popularity of a turd in a punch bowl in a lot of parties, that may well sweep the LDP back in to power.
