Asahi: Rice-shaped license plates a hit
TOME, Miyagi Prefecture--Motorcyclists here have reacted well to rice-shaped number plates introduced Wednesday by the city government to promote the area as a rice-growing center. So far, 51 applications have been made for the new plates, which carry the slogan "Mizu no Sato Tomeshi" (Water's hometown: Tome city).
