Streaming radio stations in Japan?

Postby Caustic Saint » Mon Jun 23, 2003 2:28 am

Quick question: Does anybody know of any radio stations (music, preferably) in Japan that have an online streaming feed?

I found a couple lists at Google and dmoz open directory, but was wondering if anybody had any good bookmarks that may not be in those lists.

Thanks in advance.

I looked around once for Internet radio stations in Japan and there there didn't seem to be a lot that were doing _live_ streaming. Mostly what I found were special shows and segments that they put together for downloading. Then again that was a few years back though and things have probably changed.
Actually I wish NHK would stream their radio programs. I'm learning Chinese on NHK (AM) every night and the reception really sucks where I live! :(

J-radio really sucks... the DJ talks about 55-60% of the time, often breaking right in the middle of the song to give that OHHHHH so important album and group information, and they always make sure to cut off the last 30 seconds of a great song to plug some stupid company...

FM cocolo is about the only good station that I like to listen to in my area. I believe cocolo has live broadcasts on the web, but they are only like 2 hour segements or something.. the rest of the time it is just looped over till the next day.

But really you are going to be pretty disappointed with J-radio, online or over the air.. :D

Perhaps Japanese are deaf to all announcements whether from the radio, train, right-wing sound trucks or their IT-enabled talking refrigerator.

I don't think it's just in Japan, pretty much all radio stations the world over suck. :-) That's why you buy DnB CD's.

That is too funny! The current clip is two Aussies teaching the meaning of Australian slang. If you're not on Windows you may need to enter the url manually in Media Player.

Great stuff. Today's word is "struth," and last time it was "crikey." Wish I could've seen that one.
