It's certainly making the rounds at the moment. ^O^ I liked the other one they did for Canon a while back too.

This one is spreading like wildfire!

I first saw it yesterday afternoon, when I think it was posted on just one of the major photo forums, and when I woke up this morning it was literally everywhere I could think of looking. Incredible.

But I really think Nikon deserves a swift kick in the nuts for the D3x pricing, so bravo!

You might as well watch the original that inspired all these copycats. It's much better.

Get off Charles. This is the great original, about the banning of modified xbox consoles from the Live network.

They even made a sequel:

"Plus, it's British."

I haven't seen the movie Downfall, but again I'll pass judgment. This kind of 'joke' is just way too fucking childish and that's coming from somebody who watches juvenile stuff like SouthPark, Japanese tv shows and laughs at some of the most un-politically correct stuff out there. Changing the subtitles on a movie just doesn't do it for me. This might be dumb and childish but maybe there's some clever logic behind this : a lot of the net is dominated by pre-pubescent teenage kids and maybe Nikon people etc can help attract a few more kids to their brand with this guerrilla marketing

About the movie... it was excellent. It was odd in that it really tries to show the human side of Hitler. I remember reading a review once where the viewer said the movie made him want to feel sorry for Hitler. I think this is the only movie that did not attempt to demonize Hitler. A very interesting look into the final weeks of the war. One of the best war movies in my opinion. Very worth watching.

Way off track.

This is definitely not guerrilla marketing. And the target is most definitely not pre-pubescent teenage kids (the subject is an $8,000 pro camera ... and that's just the body ... that will run you closer to $15,000 if you buy a few pro lenses with it).

A few others have mentioned that it isn't in the least funny, which is fair enough. It wouldn't be if you don't understand the situation. But if you're "into" photography and the current digital imaging market/scene and understand the issue against which the rant is directed, it really is fucking hilarious. But to find it funny you do have to know a thing or two about Nikon's DSLR lineup as well as the competitors' marketing strategies, plus coincidental items of info like the difference between RAW and jpeg files, and who the heck Ken Rockwell is.

It probably isn't FG material (and I was a little surprised to see it posted here), but it sure has lit up the photo forums.

And, coincidentally, it really is an excellent movie.

Yeah I'm probably way off base with the guerrilla marketing, but don't tell me mommies and daddies in America don't buy their kids expensive toys. $8 G's is pocket change for some of these boozos. I know some at my old place, when their kid turned sixteen it was a panic to suddenly get their little one for an SUV, laptop, concert tickets, vacations...the works and spoil them before they finish schooling. Trying to make their family Kings of that socio-economic ladder. Of course none of them OWNED any of it, it was off to the fucking Lehman Bank to get some big ass loan....

No wonder America is going bankrupt !!

Damn Buraku. Does one have to be a bozo if he might happen to have $8 G's hanging loose? You sound like Jack!

On topic of D3x, I think the problem a lot of people have with it, is the frame rate in 14bit mode, compared to the quality of the original D3 with almost no difference.
