Will Smith's Son To Be The New "Karate Kid"

[floatl]Image[/floatl]Variety: Jaden Smith set for 'Karate Kid' redo
Columbia Pictures is back in the dojo with a new version of the 1984 hit "The Karate Kid," which has been refashioned as a star vehicle for Jaden Smith. The film will be produced by Jerry Weintraub, who launched the original franchise...The script is being written by Chris Murphy, and the film will shoot next year in Beijing and other cities. While the new film will be set in that exotic locale, it will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor...more...

There is a lot of interest in who will take the Pat Morita role in the remake and some are calling for Takeshi Kitano to get the job. Mind you, if it is set partly in Beijing then "Mr Miyagi" could turn out to be "Mr Chen".

Redo the Karate Kid??

WTF?!

Is nothing sacred with Hollywood?!

Why not re-make the first "Rocky" and Raging Bull while you're at it??

Pat Morita would be rolling in his grave.

I bet this will be another Hollywood flop with many psudo-Japanese actors (ie Chinese) playing the Japanese parts like they did in Memoirs of a Geisha.

Variety: Jackie Chan set to wax on, wax off
Jackie Chan is in final negotiations to join the Columbia Pictures remake of "The Karate Kid." Harald Zwart will helm the pic, which has been revamped as a starring vehicle for Jaden Smith. Set in an exotic Asian locale, the new film will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth (Smith) learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor (Chan). Chris Murphy penned the screenplay. "Karate Kid" will shoot early this summer in Beijing. Jerry Weintraub, who launched the original 1984 pic, is producing alongside Overbrook Entertainment's James Lassiter, Will Smith and Ken Stovitz. China Film Group Corp. will co-produce in China. International martial-arts star Chan has put his karate skills to use in such English-language films as the "Rush Hour" trilogy, "The Forbidden Kingdom" and the upcoming "The Spy Next Door." Zwart most recently helmed "The Pink Panther 2" for the studio and MGM.

Bad guys in these movies just serve to give the 'good guys' a moral right to be violent. Steven Seagal's partner or wife has to die over and over again in movies so he can beat the sh*t out of someone.

Yahoo now has an exclusive trailer. Jackie Chan did indeed take the role and the title is still "Karate Kid". The scene where he beats up the bullies, a bunch skinny Chinese preteens, is not quite as impressive as Mr. Miyagi taking out a bunch of high school jocks twice his size.

'instead of karate we get kung fu'

The Karate Kid 2010: Same, same? No, no!
by Jess Hemerly at 9:54 AM March 4, 2010
...
the 2010 version of The Karate Kid looks like it tries to be faithful to the 1984 version we all know and love. The basic plot is the same: adolescent boy and his mother move to a new city; boy falls for girl; boy's affection for girl draws wrath of bully; mentor-to-be protects boy from bullies; mentor teaches boy how to defend himself and take down the bullies; boy defeats bullies, gets girl. Here, instead of the lovable maintenance man and gardener Pat Morita (RIP) we get maintenance man Jackie Chan; instead of Ralph Macchio's Danny LaRusso, the Jersey boy in LA, we get Will Smith's son as Dre, the Detroit boy in Beijing; and instead of karate we get kung fu.
That last point is non-trivial. Producers struggled with the title, vacillating between "The Kung Fu Kid" and "The Karate Kid," but neither title makes it okay. Karate and kung fu are not, as Mr. Miyagi would say, "Same, same." This comes across more like "all look same." Karate has its roots in Chinese kung fu, but the martial art has evolved over a really, really long time and is not the same, neither culturally nor in practice. Japanese and Chinese cultures are not interchangeable yet the toss-up between film names would make it seem that way, at least as far as Hollywood's marketing arm is concerned.

The trailers don't make it look all that bad and I am glad there is no reference to karate except in the title. But who is the moron that won't let the movie be renamed "The Kung-fu Kid?" Doesn't sound that bad to me. As if not calling the movie "The Karate Kid" will hurt ticket sales or that people will not be able to make the connection to the previous movie.
I am not really sure where I am going, I just hope that when I get there, I can sit down because I am sure my feet will be tired.

School Hoodrats in France could face up to three years in jail under law approved by French MPs
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/ ... french-mps

btw Will Smith used to French-kiss his son on the mouth,
the son has now turned into some tranny shemale cross dressing transexual thing

Hollywood of course had its own scandals of degenracy, politics and abuse
I'm not sure why so many Hollyweirdo kids are gone transexual....is there some connection?

Wowow Broadcast Tv in Japan censored Willie Smith the Oscars

but as much as Japanese wanted it banned. The uncensored freak out recording quickly went viral on social media.

FreDumbs of Smack Dat Dis-Respecks Mudda-Fukkaz !!!

EDIT
I'm also of the opinion this could be slightly rehearsed in an attempt to gain raiting, both the ex-rapper and comedian are actors they could sell a hit to the face. However it looks like he really connected, its possible Christopher Julius Rock in his GI Jane mockery went much farther than that serpent wife of Willard Carroll Smith II expected, Willie was laughing but then of course his so-called wife that has been fucking around town probably felt insulted, gave willie an ear full and a death stare. Fresh Prince the guy who carried his balls around in his wife's purse then is ordered on stage and does that whole Pimp-Slap thing on Chris Rock so he goes gloves off and connects
Between the Ricky Gervais calling everyone pedophiles at the Golden Globes, the other shit show Covid 93rd Oscars with Minari Black Bottom Chloé Zhao and now a bunch of endless remakes of movies and topics and franchise we already seen, idiots slap cancelling each other I think this is the end of Hollyweird

S.Korean movies and tv is looking better than ever

Lost in Translation?

before it got censored?

https://files.catbox.moe/nuw1t7.mp4

Will Smith is also a closet $cientologist too afraid to admit to his 'religious' views.
Seems his 'wfie' has been dicking dudes in front of him, a diseased couple in an open relation ship, now she gone bald. one dude named August Alsina Jr

...she is a selfish, cold, bitch. Childhood family trauma and the poor guy fell in love with an emotional black hole. Overcompensating for insecurity lets people put up with some terrible stuff. Definitely some replacement mama vibes going on there too.
