Sounds more like someone just wants to get paid. Having lived around that area back in a time when discrimination was more pronounced in many parts of the states and I would depict that area as pretty mild. Enough so that I would find it a bit difficult to believe her wide spread allegations. As you know, California as a whole is pretty open toward ethnicity. Although it could be true, I wonder if it is just someone waiting for a payday bonus....

Dude, Redding is the fuckin sticks man. I wouldn't be surprised if this was going on. Once you get out of the big cities, California turns into a backward ass hick town like any other place in the US.

Having said that, kids that are a quarter Japanese should look as white as wonder bread and the Japanese features should be just about moot.

If my kids were being tossed on at school this badly I would have raised hell a long, long time ago or moved back to civilization. There's blame to go around, but I hope they sue the shit outta Redding and make those Rednecks pay.

She probably wrote Happy Chinese New Year at first and some fucking super liberal bitch got his or her panties in a bunch and said, "but they also celebrate it in Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Vietnam, etc.", so she tried to come up with a more inclusive salutation.

Anyway, this whole story sounds very suspect to me. I can't imagine kids that are only a qaurter Japanese and have very Anglo sounding names getting harassed like this at all levels in California (even a shithole small town in California).
