Great photo, Bucky...but what's with the Texaco logo on the bottom right corner? It escapes me...

I'm guessing it was a poster produced by Texaco for Texaco employees?
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

Given the caption under the poster I thought the poster represented some sort of government (endorsed) propaganda during the war. That's why seeing the logo of a private company kind of threw me off...

I imagine the U.S. Propaganda department approached companies to underwrite the production of the posters and in exchange they were able to place their logo on the bottom.

To sell beer. I'm not sure the law (see here) compels sellers to get positive ID. I don't know if the translation is accurate and I'm not sure there aren't more detailed rules somewhere, but it looks like the seller only has to "confirm the age of consumers" and then prevent the sale "if they are aware that alcoholic beverages will be ingested by minors". I guess asking the consumer to state his age counts as "confirming". Damn, I should have come here when I was younger!
