Hi everyone. My name is.... I moved to Japan in the year, though I've been here countless times before. Been a long time reader/fan to FG, can't believe I waited so long to register though. ... I used to speak adequate Japanese, but forgot most of it, after not using it in the US. Now I'm fighting to get it back. hehe.

Just saying hi.

Postby Gum » Sun Mar 29, 2009 4:02 pm

Hey everyone,

I thought it was time for me to actually start posting on the forum instead of being a creepy man and just lurking around. I definitely like the site, user input, and the personal experiences that I have read so far by the other users. I feel I may learn a lot from joining this forum.

A bit about myself...

I am currently 22, born in Puerto Rico and previous resident of various New England locations and now currently reside in Austin Texas. I do speak English and Spanish at a native level. I work in retail and go to school. I am always open about many things if not everything; so if in doubt just ask (in regards to future postings

I enjoy Music/production (Mostly electronica), Fashion, Being a badass, and being a nerd (which may cancel out my previous statement). 8-O

Cheers,

Word to your moms,

Hey all, My names Michael, I am a molado(half black half white) 24 year old who has been raised in a semi japanese environment most of my life. Having had a shotokan teacher for a father I have been influenced through different mediums of jpanese culture through my life.

I currently work at a Japanese Drift shop operated by Hideki Nishimura a pretty famous N1 ae86 champion for you car geeks out there. I am a jack of all trades though with a soon to be completed BA in Psychology.

I have visited japan on 2 seperate occasions ( 1st, 5 weeks, 2nd - 2 weeks) and really enjoyed it. Now that i am done my degree ad done some other travelling I will probably be moving there in octoberish of 2009 for a few months to a year to spread my wings a little.

My brother currently lives in Tokyo and is in the video game/ entertainment industry. Im not looking for anything that fancy maybe some english teaching with another side job in some streetwear fashion shop. Well if anyone has suggestions or just a friendly hello. Holla

My name is Jack, and I'm a monkey on the Road far from home.

My natural habitat is an under-conditioned office for some sort of industrial concern wearing a suit designed for men with short torsoes and no asses, sweating profusely while dodging feces hurled by co-workers and well-wishers.

I have been here long enough to attain permanent residency in the Tennoji Zoo where I pilfer discarded One Cup Sake from passed out homeless in the park. It supplements my otherwise meager income.

Apparently introducing myself gives me leeway in offering common sensical advice to people who have lost their own. Common sense, after all, is what tells us (rightly) that the world is flat.

Leave Japan at your own risk. There be dragons out there.

Jack's no monkey. He's far closer to the slime that first crawled from the sea and eventually gave rise to man.

My bad double post....don't try to write a message while eating 3 day old burritos wrapped in Guerroro whole wheat tortillas...better than a high colonic.

Anyone who talks about throwing simian feces during their first few days in purgatory will fit in well.

Greetings all

I'm a long time, occasional lurker. Been kicking around in Japan since the early 90's.
Done a bit of this, and a lot of that. Self-employed now, spending most of my waking hours in front of the PC converting funny little squiggles into English.
Looking forward to the day when I've got a whole row of beer bottles under my name...

Can't help too much with the kao-moji as I don't get a whole lot of mail from JHSG's... ;)
I feel like I know some of the regular posters on here already (from lurking for so long).
I won't be responding to every post like some folks do (something I see on other BBS's I'm on as well), but I'll try to stay up to speed.

That's how Greji writes it, anyway. :p

Don't pay any attention to this guy. He never gets anything right. I only use big squiggles... Even took a couple extra years in middle school just to make sure I got'em down good.

What makes you think the feces would be simian? Variety is the spice of life.

Welcome to the board. If you're fucked and at least somewhat nuts you'll fit in just fine.

Postby irishpacker » Fri Jul 24, 2009 12:51 am

Alright lads,

May as well introduce myself! The name's Conor from Dublin, Ireland. 22, and fresh out of Uni'. Taking the next year and a bit out before embarking upon the riggors of real life career employment.

Been lucky enough to have travelled more than most so far, but I've never been to the Far-East and Japan in particular has held a certain fascination with me. Be it the dramatically different culture, the futuristic society or the natural beauty of the place, many reasons have led me to live and work there for up to a year at least. Although I've no Japanese at the moment, I'm hoping to learn the language and jump right into new and exciting experiences known only to Japan!

Hoping to head out there in October once I've some stuff sorted here at home. Got no job and haven't decided where to base myself yet. I'm going to follow the advice I've been given which is to just head out to Tokyo and spend the first month job hunting and getting settled into a Gaijin house.

Not that I wouldn't mind teaching English but I'd much rather land a job behind bar or the likes, seen as that's what I'm used to! Anyway, I'm guessing I'll end up teaching... some of the schools seem suspiciously easy to get jobs with... lessons to learned I'm sure.

Anywho I'm going to see Japan, the job will just be a means to do so. Can't wait to get there!!! Getting more worried about things the more I research but sure that's life, once I'm there I'll get used to it (J'espere!)

This is a very long post, so I'll stop now! Look forward to hearing your advice lads n' lasses!

Slan :D
