[floatl][/floatl]The Anzen Taxi Group has announced a plan to offer a fixed price taxi service between Haneda Airport and locations in the Tokyo area. For instance, from Shinjuku ward, a journey would be 5,000 yen while a trip from Suginami ward would be 7,000 yen. Anzen say this represents a saving of around 3,000 yen compared with the meter price at current rates. All cabs would need to be booked so, while you can arrange for a pick-up at the airport, it's likely that people will schedule the cars more for trips to Haneda. The service will kick off next October in tandem with the expansion of services at the airport but is still dependent on approval from the Ministry of Transport. The Ministry has been reluctant to allow price wars to break out among registered taxis but has given limited permission for some fixed price applications. Anzen already offers a set price if you book a journey from Tokyo to Disneyland during summer.
